Moved home not long ago from a nice cable area to a non-cable area :-(

Got Virgin 8mb ADSL now. Can anyone recommend a good wireless router that
works ok with Xbox Live?

Would preferably like to stick with Linksys if poss.

Cheers all,

Coln (XRT)

Forget linksys, get a netgear, probably the only reliable wireless adsl
router available under £100.

My friends Linksys has just died on him a couple of weeks ago, just out
of it's warranty. However, I went to a Linksys from a Netgear that had
flakey wifi and have had no problems so far.

Nothing wrong with my Belkin F5D7231-4 which replaced a Netgear router.

You poor poor man. I hope you've kept the receipt.

I'm not prejudiced. I hate everyone equally.

Why's that then? It's now over 12 months old and has never missed a beat.
It's a very stable router with good wirefree range and puts a tick in
every box I need.

I went through 3 in as many months before finally giving up. A mate of
mine went through a couple. Many people have found the same. If yours
is working, good for you. Quite a few people have had issues though.

Sounds like me with Netgear products which is why I tried Belkin.

Maybe nothing wrong with yours, but give it time.

All the home based routers are unreliable, simple as, Netgear is the *least*
unreliable. A netgear router, once set up and installed, rarely requires a
second visit, I have similar experieinces with 3com officeconnect (despite a
flaky psu issue), maybe they are newer chipsets in use now, but my
experience shows dreadful failure rate from most of the other manufacturers.
Failures within two years seems to be the rule rather then the exception,
some routers become unreliable needing the odd power cycle, not such a big
issue, some however, when they screw up, the settings are wiped, this is not
good.

Whenever i see a customer with a belkin router, i caution them to keep their
receipt safe, as they will need it soon.

Two returned Netgear routers says otherwise whereas one rock solid
Belkin router paints a very different picture (for me anyway).

Ooohh, look at you!

A simple fact based on personal opinion is that I would not recommend
Netgear routers.
