Well, I've finally gone and bought Dark Age of Camelot after being worn
down by all the talk about it here... no, that's a lie. I haven't.

I've had pains in the back of my right hand this week. They seem to have
gone now (I'm back to mousing right-handed today after four days of
annoyance) but I think I'll still avoid PC games and console action
games this weekend.

I'll probably just play Advance Wars 2. Decided to give it a go to get
back into it before the DS version arrives. It's got hard now,
campaign-wise, so I've stopped that and instead I've been designing my
own map, trying to create some sort of balance. It's hard. The first
version was always won by whoever went first, then I unbalanced it the
other way so that whoever was blue would win... it's tricky, but very
addictive. It's like a freeform puzzle game, or something, making a good
map.

(Of course, me being rubbish at the game doesn't help me test it. It's
possible someone like Boggis would have owned the last version I made,
whereas I lost badly... which led to a couple more mountains being put
in front of the blue army's starting point.)

Do you have any wrist support for your mouse?

Sod it. I'll be hitting things with a huge stick in Dark Age Of Camelot
- my friar hasn't seen much action in months so I've brought him out of
mothballs for some staff on monster action.

EA Sports Gay Olympics 2006 *again*?

Anyhoo, I'm not sure what I'll be playing. Jump! Superstars if it arrives.
Other than that, it'll be the "Make A Start On A New Game" game, since I
finished VJ2 last night:

Stranger's Wrath, maybe? Another bash at Eternal Darkness or Under the Skin,
perhaps? Sonic Advance 2? Who knows?!

For certain:
Wife's Leaving Do (RL) - tonight
Wedding Anniversary Stuff (RL)

Yes. At work I have a lovely Kensington gel wrist rest thing. It's
great. At home I don't, but I mainly use my Mac and the Apple flat mouse
is much better than the bulbous Microsoft thing I use at work, comfort-wise.

It's all my fault. I played the FEAR demo too much at the weekend sat on
the sofa reaching down to my giant wireless mouse. Not good mouse
positioning, that wasn't.

And since typing that message I've switched back to left-hand mousing
again because my right hand started complaining again. It's not sharp
shooting pains, just aches.

A good way to balance games like this is to always play the map twice,
swapping sides for the second time - sort of changing ends at half time.
This allows you to have unbalanced maps where the objective for one
outnumbered player might be to survive an attack for a number of turns,
or retreat under fire or something.

Aye, that's what I did the first time. If I ever win another battle on
the map then I'll swap over and see whether it's completely unbalanced
or not.

> This allows you to have unbalanced maps where the objective for one

I'm not sure if those sort of conditions are possible in AW2. Though I
wouldn't be surprised if the options are buried in there somewhere.

AW2 is one of those games that whenever I play it I wonder why it's been
so long since I last bothered and also find myself wondering why I buy
so many games when there's so much gaming packed into that one little
cartridge.

I'm really going to make an effort to put proper time into AW DS.

And whichever version(s) of Football Manager 2006 I'm going to get I'm
really going to try to finish at least one season. I loved FM2005 and
I'm gagging for the new version, but I'm not sure that I made it past
Christmas. I could have saved £18 and played the demo. In CM4 I played
as three different teams, I think, but didn't finish a season with any
of them. And CM03/04 never even got installed.

Psi Ops:The Mindgate Conspiracy - Xbox. I have finished POP:SOT and
found it suitably excellent despite the few rage inducing moments caused
by birdy things and that bitch nicking me dagger of time so I have
decided to play Psi Ops which I have had for ages but not got round to
playing.

Also : Project Snowblind - Xbox: I picked this up for a tenner as I
don't mind gambling on a game for that amount of cash.

Probably large volumes of Makai Kingdom. The plan is to try and
transmigrate a single character through the first stage of every
single character class I have available, leveling up to lvl50 on each,
which should unlock a few extra on the way.

Actually, it turns out that you keep the base stat modifiers for each
level of each character class you transmigrate to - so if you go
through all five stages of Carrot monsters you get a (10+20+20+30=)
80% EXP bonus for that character. So basically, transmigrating your
characters a lot can make them indecently powerful even at low levels,
particularly if you use * items.

Makai Kingdom and Mushihimesama for me, now I've finally got some time to
myself. Assuming I don't get called into work again, I've got three days
off, so I'm hoping to get a fair way through Makai Kingdom.

Mushihimesama seems to be pretty good, too. Not as good a port as
DoDonPachi Dai-Oujou (it's a bit lacking in options, especially screen
modes; also the digital audio out doesn't work, which is just crap), but
it's a lovely-looking game and the different game modes make it a lot more
accessible to the casual player. You don't have to have screens full of
bullets and complex scoring systems if you don't want. You can just shoot
stuff.

The Elveden level was quite annoying, but not as annoying as the Manchester to
Sheffield level, which can be really good fun, unless (as I did tonight) you
get stuck behind a lam0r n00b who does 40 the whole way. Grr.

So you should be playing the lap dancing club game at the very least.
Only a tenner a go and you win a couple melons each "go".

I have now descended into stag night reverie.

You were invited. I sent it to the editor of ugvm. Oh, hang on, maybe
they just assumed that you weren't the editor any more.

Big day is on the 17th of September. Then a three-week honeymoon. And
I've got someone looking after my flat for that period, so don't even
bother thinking of getting my address for the latest leg of the UK
BURGLING TOUR, Nathan.

They'll fold like some paper in the hands of the origami champion of japan
when I offer them half the takings.

But don't worry, I'll offer a prize draw through the website where you'll
have a chance to win back your posessions. Or maybe like those
freeipods.com sites I'll make freetimmillersouvenirs.com

Being a normal (non-letchy) sort of person, the lap dancing club did not
make an appearance. A school disco night did, but there were very few
people in school uniform there. Lots of good music though. And
dancing. And alcohol.

Why are you even getting married you big bender? Surely your future wife
should know of your bendy tendencies?

You see that Elton John? That's you that is.

Etc.

Ah, you're on the US one.

Have a couple accounts for that but one hasn't been used in a couple of
years (don't have trials of atlantis or catacombs for it either) and the
other has been inactive for a few months except for a 10 day free pass
for ex-subscribers - i notice that the new "classic servers" are pretty
busy atm. I tend to play in Albion on Lancelot server when I do go back.

Prefer playing in Albion on Excalibur on the euro servers as that's
where my best toons are. Have 4 level 50s now (Reaver, Necromancer,
Heretic and Wizard) and hopefully a few weeks away from getting a fifth
(Friar).

Indeed. All they need to make them ACE is a little internal heater to
make them warm, and little rubber nipples for squeezing.
