Well, since I remembered, I'll post this now, since I won't get a chance to
while at work.

Now, no looking until it's Friday proper, else you'll only regret it when
you realise you've nothing to do at elevenses, won't you?

Easy quiz or hard quiz? Hang on... [tosses coin]

Hard it is! Mind you, it's not too bad. 25 questions, and here we go:

1. You're in Tonetown. What sort of a time are you having?

2. Yorgle, Grundle - and who's the third?

3. What's the link between Leather Goddesses of Phobos and Superhero League
of Hoboken?

4. What's the link between Legend's text adventure sequel to an earlier game
based on a book by Frederic Pohl and a recent Sierra space strategy epic?

5. Enchanter, Sorceror; what's the third?

6. What is the name of the offspring of Mondain and Minax?

7. The BBC reports on there being sharp words between the superpowers, tanks
in East Berlin and rumours of a satellite blackout just before you wander
through Kensington Gardens. What's the Brian Moriarty game?

8. What links characters named Pazort and Panzer?

9. What links left-2seconds-right and punch to the theme song played in
Sonic's major appearance on the Sega CD?

10. In what would you hear skeletons in my closet after playing the game?

11. What futuristic TV gameshow is hosted by Lance Boyle?

12. A covered hole in the ground which, when opened, has a beanstalk growing
out of it. A piece of fruit in the middle of a crater. A book. What comes
next?

13. Llamas, Camels and Ancipitals. Who dreams up this sort of thing?

14. You get a sound test by firing a firework at an E. What's the game?

15. Who went to a Treasure Island, then Fantasy World, before heading to
Magicland?

16. There's an Atlantic Accelerator. Eurocorp wants it. What's the game?

17. What links Hellfire, Forge of Virtue and Ground Zero?

18. Baccata the Thomgog appears in what series of games?

19. You must be Joe King. What are you about to travel on?

20. What game design concept links Klax, Vectorman, Grand Theft Auto and the
vast majority of pinball machines?

21. What's the proper name for the Spy Hunter music?

22. "Congratulations, Master Wizard; the world has been restored to
equilibrium". What game plays that after each level?

23. If someone got all the girls, later owned an appliance, and shortly
afterwards enjoyed Spring Break, just what course was he taking?

24. Shodan taunts you. Mutants attack you. Cameras watch you. The groves are
prepared for launch. What's the game?

25. What links the footwear of a filmic boxer to one of the earlier
questions?

Eh? Did you write that?

No, you didn't! Erm, you'll probably be glad to know that half of the ones
which I've got the same answer as you for are complete guesses on my part!

The ones that weren't were:

11) Mega Race ... the name "Lance Boyle" was bout the only good thing in
that game
13) Jeff Minter ... come ON.
15) Dizzy ... ditto
16) Syndicate ... ditto
19) I couldn't remember the name of the game, but I know you were a pilot
22) Magic Carpet ... that was the idea of the game

Guesses ...

14) Which other game involved letting off fireworks at things?
17) Not the same answer anyway
20) Ditto

I appear to have contridicted myself.

Any chance of some answers, or at least an indication of who's got the most
so far?

Please, please, please :-)

20% of our time is spent asleep, 20% of our time is spent earning a living
(less if you're a student, natch) and the other 60% is spent pissing about
doing stuff of alarming inconsequence; you might as well have fun with some
of it!

Not quite, just that I couldn't post from work.

Well, it's fair to say we've a clear leader. But there's still a few
questions that no-one's got right. Loads of Kudos (Yes, I'll even throw in a
Joker) to anyone who gets 20 or 25. I'm trying to think up some hints for
them - I'll post those in an hour or so.

Answers coming around midnight, I reckon.

Getting stuck in a feckin' canal with an elephant in a boat, if this is
Manhole you're talking about.

Or I might, er, forget. Oops.

Hint for 20: It's a scoring-related concept. Perhaps this one's a bit too
tenuous an idea, but it's what I always thought was one of the simplest, yet
cleverest features of Grand Theft Auto.

Hint for 25: Okay, I was a bit overcryptic. The footwear of a filmic boxer
refers to the name of a pretty obscure game based on hooking up logic gates.
Just *how* many filmic boxers have memorable names? Google should be able to
handle the rest (Okay, it's not in the spirit of the quiz, but this question
was just, well, unfair.)

Perhaps the quiz I thought was too easy might have been better, it being,
well, better planned. Ho hum...

Answers, well, after I've played a bit more Sonic Adventure.

"You get more points for doing things in multiples" ? As in: Klax, multiple
klaxes give you more points. GTA, kill multiple people/blow up loads of
vehicles at once gives you more points. Pinball has multipliers all over the
place. Never played Vectorman though, so it might be a bunch of arse guess
:-)

Rocky's boots. That looks a really enthralling game.
