Nightshade (Spectrum) Contentious at the time (I think this may be first
Ultimate game not to be Crash Smashed) this was an action orientated affair
using Ultimate's isometric 3D engine.
The idea was that different weapons effected different nasties and was
ultimately a search for the four weapons to kill the bosses.
Night Gunner (Spectrum) A game of collateral damage for the whole family.
By Digital Integration who were famous for the ubiquitous Fighter Pilot who
clearly had a thing for planes.
Stages alternated between into the screen shmup and overhead bombing
stages.
Had savage copy protection as I remember and in a meta nod to that I have
yet to get the WoS file to load successfully.
Nonterraquerous (Spectrum) Which I may or may not have spelled correctly.
Split screen budget shooter from Mastertronic. Dauntingly large.
Narc (Arc) Run 'n gunner with silly weapons. Played for about 10 mins on
the Capcom compilation.
Carl.
Nights - dreamy Saturn game
Nectaris - war based strategy game on the PS1
NBA Jam - the only basketball game I like
Neo Geo Pocket - still can't find mine :(

getting old & still playing video games
> Getting in now before these are all mentioned...
Shit incoming!
Need for Speed (Various)
Although there have been a few decent NFS games, the vast majority have
been utter, utter shit. Many have been a nice idea (Hot Pursuit, Shift)
but have far better alternatives.
Nightbreed (Amiga)
Atmospheric almost survival horror adventure game ruined by the fact it
was completely shit. This was mainly because it was so damn hard, but also
because of the surprise deaths. OH AND THE DISK CHANGING. Grr.
Nightfire (GC)
Obviously shit as it isn't Goldeneye, but wasn't even a tenth of the fun
in multiplayer Agent Under Fire was.
Naughty Bear (iOS)
Is the "proper" version of this also a shit Pac Man clone?
NHL* (Anything)
Shit ice hockey game. Thing is, even the very best ice hockey game is
still shit because it is an ice hockey game. I mean, even that XBL indie
Lacrosse game is a better choice of sport.
NiGHTS (Wii)
Imagine, if you will, that NiGHTS for the Saturn was a big tasty cream
cake. Now imagine the cream was replaced with horse ejaculate, and the
cake itself replaced with fetid monkey brains mixed with human excrement.
It looks the same on the outside, but you sure as hell wouldn't want to eat it.

Loved Nonterraqueous, never completed it though.

N.O.M.A.D. (ZX Spectrum/C64)
Great maze shooter from Ocean.
http://www.worldofspectrum.org/infoseekid.cgi?id=0003450
Nebulous (ZX Spectrum/C64)
Fantastic platform game by Hewson Consultants in which you had to ascend a
tower via platforms going around it
http://www.worldofspectrum.org/infoseekid.cgi?id=0003377
Nosferatu The Vampire (ZX Spectrum)
A rather good isometric arcade adventure by one of the Design Design chaps
for Pirhana. You played as Jonathan Harker, Lucy Harker and Van Helsing
and in parts of the game you could switch between the characters in your
battle against Dracula/Nosferatu - i recall it fucked around with lore a
bit :)

Byrodir the Human Champion of Moria Defenders (Snowbourn, LOTRO EU)
Malfir the Draenei Retribution Paladin (Bronzebeard, WOW EU)
Malkir the Dwarven Shaman/Druid/Justicar Cleric (Steampike, RIFT)
Got that free as a pack in with the +3, must've played it a fair bit
but can't remember much about it really.

Took me years to finally play that, probably towards the very end of
my Spectrum days. I was disappointed, maybe an overhyping thing.

Need for speed
Started as a great series on PC, but got derailed into a 2 fast 2
furious styled mess. I've not revisited it recently.
nexuiz
http://www.nexuiz.com/
Open source FPS. I've not played it, but it looks good.
noby noby boy
More fun than it should be.
no second prize
Impressive 3D superbike game for the ST, with a helicopter cam and
bizarre mouse control.
no more heroes
I don't get it.

Add the word afiduluminag to the subject to circumvent my email filters.
Curiously, my few entries haven't yet been represented:
Neutopia (TG-16) - And its somewhat more annoying sequel. Billed as Zelda
clones, but the truth is that it was developed independently without any
knowledge of the other game. It proves that great minds think alike,
although it's not hard to see which one won out in the marketplace. The
Neutopia series is less charming than the first Zelda, but presents its
narrative with a little more logic and finesse. Not a surprise, as NEC and
Hudson really valued their sprite-animated cut scenes.
New Horizons (MD) - The second in a series of nautical RPGs whose main
title escapes me at the moment. I'm sure it will come to me in a flash of
inspiration late at night. You can pick one of eight protagonists, all
drawn from actual historical figures who accomplished something of note
during the age of exploration. Less like Sid Meier's Pirates! and more
like a traditional JRPG, it's on the long list of games I mean to get back
to at some point in the future. Uncharted Waters, that was the name of the
series. There's an NES version of both games I need to get my hands on
too.
Neverland Card Battles (PSP) - One of those odd board game/CCG/RPG hybrids
that came out for the PSP, pinned to hopes of worldwide competitive
tournaments. It never made any sort of lasting impact, as far as I know. I
think this got on my radar because Sega published it in Japan. It's cheap
to download on PSN now, if I recall correctly.

By PC I assume you mean 3DO?

Nitro: Amiga
Post apocalyptic top view racer. Had the choice between F1 car for the
early road races, an off road jobbie for the later desert races and an
all-rounder for the inbetween. I always had the all-rounder as it
looked like a Delorean (esp the silver one).
Brill.
That is all for now.

I hated that annoying douche in the FMV bits - I wanted to smack his
face being the pubescent sprog that I was. I did love that my 3DO had
the first good versions of Need for Speed and Road Rash though.

I personally preferred the C64 version
forgot
Neverwinter Nights & Neverwinter Nights 2 (PC) - shame on me
and
Nethack (PC) - dammit!
Nightflite - Sinclair spectrum. Effectively an instruments only flightsim.
I played this for hours. But not as much as I played....
Night Gunner - Sinclair spectrum. From Di, the guys who want on to produce
the amazing (for the time) Fighter Pilot. Thing that sticks in my mind
most about night gunner (other than the hooooj graphics) were the explosion
sounds, which actually managed to sound like that had squealing tearing
metal in them. Think I might fire up an emu tonight and have a play.

Speaking of FMV, showers and 'N' - Night Trap!
Which I have never actually played.
It's shite.
Not many of these apart from hundreds of NHL, NFL, NBA, NASCAR and NCAA
games.
Need for Speed: Most Wanted (360) - A release game for the 360 I think.
I actually enjoyed it despite some rather dodgy framerates and AI
issues. I still have no idea how this got a PEGI rating of 3+ when it
involves cop killing and illegal street racing. I bet it looks bloody
awful now.
No One Can Stop Mr. Domino! (PS1) - Brilliant mad Japanese game. You
control a walking domino around a path trying to trigger actions by
placing and toppling other dominos. Well worth seeking out and playing.
> It's shite.
It really isn't.
I used to think NWN was great, going back to it I find it's use of D&D
rules clunky to the ponit of being near unplayable. Miss, miss, miss,
miss, hit for 1pt damage, dead. Great!
--
[ste]
That's really an issue solely with the single-player campaign, isn't it?
It was always my impression that the point of NWN was the multiplayer with
content operated by a human gamemaster.
Before the pedantry begins, I should specify the Atari/Bioware NWN, as
opposed to the MMO run by America Online.
-KKC, putting old desktop support skills to use.
I've never played it, but I did watch a video of a full playthrough a
few years ago.
So it was, thanks for correcting me.
But look at that conclusion in the review, hardly an unqualified
recommendation is it?
I remember being vaguely disappointed by it at the time, simply I suspect
because it wasn't Knight Lore II (that was clearly Alien 8) but like Peter
Davidson's Doctor Who I've grown to like it for itself rather than in
comparison to it's iconic predecessor.
Everybody loved Gunfright though didn't they?
Carl.
I had completely forgotten about this. I had a one track demo from an ST
Format coverdisc but I played it all the time.
I'd often load it up to watch the other bikes race.
Carl.
I've ripped the music to my PC and listen to it occasionally.

I saw somewhere that the clips were not actually made for the game.
They were filmed years before for something TV related....or
something.

I must have had the same coverdisk. I remember the title screen of the
biker doing a wheelie with his arms in the air and one hand doing the
victory sign.

And the box art:

It was a great little game, quite advanced for it's time.
I did, more so than Nightshade.
