Way before my time, I'm afraid, but my father often talks about how

You only have to look at the pictures of the time to see that. We were very
lucky in that we were never short of food because of my father's
connections, but even so, we were not fat.

I gave up watching it part way through when it became really objectionable.
I gather it is part of a series on food of a series of eras. I shall NOT be

Unfortunately, this is the way of a lot of TV nowadays. I was in Cardiff
for the Young Musician of the Year final, and I was appalled by the way
it was directed and presented. The set didn't look like a concert hall
stage, but more like a cross between who wants to be a millionaire, the
weakest link and Claire's Accessories. And the two geniuses who
presented it needed phonetic spelling of composers' names on the autocue
so they didn't screw it up. Which they did, anyway. Torke was spelled
Torkee for example. It was all very depressing...what's more disturbing
is that someone somewhere obviously thinks this is a good idea. The head
of BBC TV was there, and she didn't seem embarrassed, certainly...
