1. As SQLit said major effect of increasing the power factor is only of
economic advantage if the utility meters the power factor and charges
for it. Not likely on residential.

2. Propaganda on reducing residential killo-Watt-hours (power) by about
12% IMHO is bullshit. With low power factor the Volt-Amps may be reduced
but not the power since power takes into account the phase angle between
voltage and current.

3. With a low power factor there would be some reduction in current and
thus some reduction in heat loss in wire. This would be quite low in
residential. Connecting the device at the service, as shown, will lower
the losses in the wires from the meter to the service, as short run of
large wire.

4. From what I saw in the patent application, conviently supplied by
Roger, the amount of correction is manually set with switches. If you
have one motor running and correct the power factor, the correction will
be wrong if you turn off the motor or add another motor (or turn off 1st
motor and turn on 2nd motor). Over correcting (when the 'motor' is
turned off) is also a problem.

Looks kike more snake oil.  If you want lower bills, you need to do it the hard
way -- more efficient appliances and liberal use of the OFF switch.
