Started my 1st full time job as a very mature NQT at the start of the term
and the place is already in special measures!
Place has the worst exam results in the LEA, one of the worst truancy
problems and close to the worst deprivation and disciplined problems too!
Fun times ahead!

Good luck, either way.

You'll probably find the HMI are a much nicer bunch than the OFSTED. They want
you to do well. Ours appeared shocked to see our school in special measures -
we just don't fit the profile. Duh! When you have a corrupt inspector, what
else do they think will happen?

I can relate. I was only a few weeks on the job when the OFTurd team came in.
They ignored ALL the evidence given to them, including awards for such dramatic
improvement since the last report, and decided to fail us.

The registered inspector's name, btw, was Michael Allcock. Sound familiar to
you? His work is publicly available....

Went through that myself, a couple of years back.
Within a week or so of me starting my first job the school went into Special
Measures and at the end of my NQT year it closed down and went into Fresh
Start.
Even though it was hell at times, a year in Special Measures and a year
teaching in a Fresh Start school taught me a lot more than if those first 2
years were in a more 'normal' school (if there is such a thing).
Good luck Bob, but you should learn a lot
