Plumbing in towel rail separately from the CH
We have a heated towel rail in the bathroom which is plumbed in conventionally to the central heating, so it comes and goes off with all the rest of the radiators. SWMBO has decreed that she would like it to work 365 days a year, so she has a nice warm towel to come out out of the shower to, which I believe... more »

Tesco CFL's
We know no one really likes them but my local Tesco's has been selling CFL's (18w 20w and even some 23W) at 5 for£1. Not always in stock, but got to be worth buying some. Alho

Light switch help needed - Untitled.png (0/1)
I have a 2 button switch in my lounge which I've drawn in the attachment. I believe the central lights are controlled by one button and B 1 WAY and B COM these work. There was another wire sort of loose in the room which I was lead to believe is controlled by the second switch and the other pair A 1 WAY and A COM. I have put a... more »

Fixing A Drywipe Board to the Wall
I have just purchased (online) a magnetic drywipe board (80cm x 60cm) for my daughter's newly decorated bedroom. The board (a very girly lilac) has a silver-coloured frame but the glass plate-type fixings I have been sent are of a brass effect. This will spoil the look on the wall. Does anyone know of anywhere I can buy silver effect glass plate fixings (I... more »

Electric paper stapler?
Can anyone recommend a decent electric (paper) stapler? Maplin used to have cheapish ones but finally I got fed up taking them apart to repair jams. And it's embarassing to know that I gave them as presents to a number of people. TIA, Jon C.

Gate spring installation
I've got a gate spring ([link] - [link]) but it's not closing the gate so I'm obviously not installing it correctly. I've got it horizontal from hinge post to gate and have tried tensioning... more »

NiMh batteries
Do NiMh batteries self discharge if left unused for a period of time, or is this just a myth?

fixing an internal window ledge (cill)
Rejuvenating a window & the final puzzle is how to mount the new window ledge. The ledge is timber with a tenon which fits into a mortice slot in the timber window frame. But when slotted in there is a 6 to 12mm gap underneath the ledge to the underlying block & brick work (which spans across the cavity &... more »
