A quick Q on garden shredders
|
| |
What's a rough comparison of the amount of space taken up by branches, twigs etc before/after shredding?
For example, if I fill my car boot up with branches and other cuttings, how much boot space would that same amount of stuff fill, if I shredded it first?

Christ, is this how much skips cost?
|
| |
Just looking around at skip hire prices, *starting at* 150 for a tiny little 4-sq-yd midi one??? And a 4.5-sq-yd Hippobag is the same price!
Bloody hell.

(No connection etc)
Just got a set of these:

and I am very impressed. Certainly gives me a huge confidence boost and does indeed level up things on sloping ground. For the size and the cost, I'd thoroughly recommend them to anyone who does ladderwork (unless your ladder... more »

Replacement of finish for external doorframe -
|
| |
I have a west facing front door. Both frame and door are made of
elm. The door paintwork has not suffered from the sun, but the side
of the frame facing south has lost all its paint - it all went in 20+
years ago and I can't remember if the same paint was used - I suspect
not. It's only this side that has gone.... more »

CH Controller Battery
|
| |
Mother's CH is controlled by a Potterton EP2000.
For some time she has been complaining about the boiler locking out, etc. (and it does, and I know what to do to get that resolved). Today I had a revelation. The flaming unutterably stupid EP2000 has a battery. Any disconnection from mains, however brief, results in immediate loss... more »

IP Camera wireless issue
|
| |
I'm struggling to set up an IP camera, a Maginon IP1....
It has both wired LAN socket and wireless. Using the wired I have managed to configure it, set it to enable the wireless, set it up with a dedicated IP and set its MAC code to give it WiFi access in the router.
It works via the wired connection, but I need it to work via WiFi and... more »

OT:Any (Linux) UPS experts ?
|
| |
Stuck at the last stage of setting up my server, and that is getting the (Eaton NV400) UPS configured.
Server is running Debian Wheezy. I have installed and configured NUT, and so far everything works. It connects to the USB port, reads the UPS, and reacts to a power off event.
However, in my config, I want the following:... more »
