Whilst that's undoubtedly sometimes the case, it's rather ironic given all the
criticism, that as soon as the snow becomes really bad, some authorities are
appealing for 4X4 owners to come forward to assist vulnerable people, becasue
that haven't got the resources ! And no, I don't own one.

Hi,
The front bedroom of our house is noticeable colder than the back
bedroom. I used to think this was because the rear of the house caught
the sun but we haven't had sun for some weeks so there must be more to
it than that.
The rear of the house (1970s) is brick with an insulated cavity and
breeze block inside. The front of the house is (I guess) breeze block

I am saying that increasing this stat makes the boiler use a higher output
temperature.
What I would also add is that if the boiler stops because it has got hot
enough for this stat to open, then (perhaps if the pump is running) I would
expect it to have cooled down enough to restart within a few minutes. (i.e.

On 7 Jan,
I regularly drive past Teesside airport (recently renamed Durham Tees
Valley -- abreviated to Durham in news reports -- Durham is nearer Newcastle
airport) Formerly RAF Goospool or later RAF Middleton St George.
It is nearly always (except in high winds) 1-1.5deg colder than surrounding
areas. It is also foggier.

Just spoke with my father in France. They're very tight on
electricity - everyone being asked not to run anything power
consuming between midday and 6pm (IIRC) such as washing
machines, which can be run at another time.

I would suggest you have two effects going on here. The supercooling
effect allowed by the elevated pressure in the bottle allows the liquid
to be chilled below its normal freezing point without a state change.
When you de-pressurise, the co2 bubbles then immediately act as
nucleation points that allow the crystallisation process to begin and

Son visited today and related a story about a 4x4 passing him at about 70
MPH on a snow laden dual carriageway and causing son some grief - son had
the last laugh about two miles down the road, when he passed the 4x4 sitting
very nicely halfway up the embankment of the carriageway with its nose
