Hi,

I am putting in a hardwired alarm system in my house and will like to
know if I can get a heat sensor that I can hook up to main panel.
I have seen a few smoke sensors that can be used this way but not heat
sensors, can soemone tell me where can I source one?

Thanks

have a look at www.comfort.org.uk going to products-->detectors section.

There are some sensors for heat and for smoke there. These have 12v bases
and will run from a 12v supply - which is what an intruder alarm will have.
Check the manufacturer's data sheet (Hochiki) for details of switching to
make sure that the right switching is done. You might need a relay - I'm
not certain.

Other than that you can get heat and smoke sensors from places like RS, but
most are 24v which means separate power supply etc.

The problem is that burglar alarm systems tend to be 12V, whereas
fire alarm systems (for which heat detectors tend to be made) are
more likely to be 24V. That's the first stumbling block...

I have in the past used both Aritech and Hochiki smoke and heat
detectors on a Security alarm as they are available in 12V with a relay
base. I presume most manufacturers also make a 12V compatible unit.

Apollo Fire Detectors Ltd make a range of 9-18 volt dc detectors.
The base contains a clean contact relay no/c/nc for use on security panels.

part no.s are: Series 60 Relay base 45681-270
Series 60 Ion sensor 55000-205
Series 60 Optical 55000-305
Series 60 Heat Det 55000-160

The range is exellent and very reliable....available through many outlets
