Does anyone have any ideas of suppliers - preferably in the SE of
England but anywhere would do - especially if they deliver.
Chris
DIY, nearly...
Ye Olde Picture Framing Shoppe?? Ooooh! Werry 'spensive.
Get or make a small sample of what you want.
Tootle down to your local timber merchant, or phone a few, to find out
what they will charge you for making it. The charge will comprise a
setting-up charge for machining - probably IRO £15-£20, and the price
of the timber.
Oh, if you can't make or get a sample of what you want, most of these
shops keep samples from previous jobs - you may be able to poke about
on their shelf of offcuts and find something for them to copy.
I had made a lot of lambstongue architrave, and picture rail, and
mouldings for arj sash-windows, as the old ones had rotted badly -
very reasonable price (setting-up charge for each sort of moulding
notwithstanding). Just make sure you order 10% or so more than you
think you need - wobbles at the end of the moulding where fed into
the machine, shakes, and bad knots are potential problems.
Architectural mouldings from the "sheds" - Hah! I've spit 'em.
Richard.

Or look in the YP for a wooden mouldings specialist. There is a place in
Leeds which has an amazing selection. I'm sure some such place would
have something suitable. Or could help out with it.
Or find a local artist and see what they do.
