Ask for "WBP" - water and boil proof. That's what I used (18mm). Be
warned - an 8'x4' sheet weighs an awful lot.

Whoops! that address has changed to: http://members.aol.com/slhardwood/
It sounds as though you need to talk to an assistant that has had
even a modicum of training and has done a little living and has left
mummys apron strings behind.
Marine ply is the top grade of ply - it isn't easily available but
you could try a specialist outlet i.e. a boat chandler.

But is the Marine Ply really necessary. Surely ply that's ok outside
would be ok for the bathroom.
So maybe it'll delaminate sooner that marine would but what the hell?

I dont trust the staff in Wickes, ever since they told me that pressure
treated timber needed painint or varnishing if I was going to use it
outside. When I asked what the point of the treatment was, he explained
that it was only to stop it rotting before they sold it.
On the other hand, perhaps I should trust the Wickes staff rather than the
quality of their stock!
(In the end I bought my timber elsewhere)

Oh dear!! Try http://www.silverman.co.uk/products/mp00.htm and look
for Far Eastern Marine Ply. Last I bought was a very reasonable
price (under GBP25 a sheet for 18mm). Finish isn't much - but its
going to be covered so who cares. I've just noticed an off cut that
has been out all winter in the garden and it's still fine.

Current belief is that the presence of these voids are the cause of de-
lamination. Moisture gets in and causes swelling I understand.
Your tike supplier should know what is required. If marine ply is
recommended then no other ply will do

I was told by a guy who really ought to know, that the difference
between ordinary marine ply and WBP ply is that small voids are
permitted in WBP but not in marine. And price of course.
Ten years experience with both indicates he was right.
WBP will be fine for your bathroom floor.
Expect to pay about 30ukp+vat per 8x4 sheet of 18 mm.
Expect it to weigh about 50 Kg!
I have no idea what Wickes stock, but if it doesn't say WBP on it, you
can be pretty sure it isn't.

Indeed, WBP ply will be fine in this situation, your not supposed to be
soaking it all the time are you?

There is a diference between getting rained on, and standing in stagnant
water :-)

Depends on whether you are going to have to live with it for 25 years...

Not sure if WBP does.

No you don't - it's very expensive and total overkill.
marine ply is needed only if total immersion is expected on occasions -
i.e. boats !
What you need is WBP water & boil proof, which refers to the glue
used to make up the laminations.
