There's a version of Speedfit specifically for compressed air. Can't
remember OTTOMH id Screwfix do it, or BES - I know I've seen it somewhere.

I hope you are careful, compressors can give a lot more pressure than
propane cylinders need to keep the gas in.
I thought the vapour pressure of propane at room temperature was about
the same as typical compressed air storage pressures. Given the tanks
will be engineered to take significantly over that I can't see there
being a problem.
