A long shot, I know, but has anyone managed to get the above combination
to work? Belkin, of course, don't produce a driver for OS X for the
USB-serial adaptor, but I have managed to download and install one from
www.sourceforge.net. HotSync Manager sees the Belkin, but as a modem,
rather than a serial device.

Any ideas gratefully received!

Thanks in advance,

Paul.

Experience of Palm's Hotsync software and USB->serial thingies suggests that
you really should get a real USB-supporting Palm.

Palm only officially supported their own USB Connect thingy, and even that
was very very very flaky. Mine managed to eventually knacker my Palm Vx as
well.

Someone else sold a Palm serial->USB thingy - was it Keyspan? That's likely
to be much better than Palm's effort.

So give up and get a modern Palm. The new ones are quite neat.

Also chuck Palm's software and get Missing Sync 4.

Cheers,

Chris

I Bought a Palm Connect USB kit (serial to USB) on eBay a year or 2 ago for
my Palm M100 and it works perfectly under Jag and Panther. It even came with
an Appletalk to serial adaptor too.

As for Palm's software, I've never had any problem with it, and with iSync
set up too, the Palm, Mac address book and iCal and iPod all sync together.

I found the Transport Monitor frequently lost track of whether the Palm was
connected or not. Ultimately I could only sync via IR!
