Lacie eSata card funny on 10.6

I've got a Lacie eSata card (purchased from t'Apple Store) which used to
work fine under 10.5. Now, DiskUtility can't use it to partition disks. I
can connect the same disk via Firewire or USB, partition it, and then
connect it via eSata, and it will work just fine - but I can't partition
it when connected to the eSata interface.

This is exactly the same with other SATA disks, connected to either eSata
port (I have a disk cradle on the other port, and get identical behaviour
from different disks).

Has the driver been updated for Snow Leopard? IIRC SL didn't ship with
Sil3132 drivers, which a lot of SATA cards needed. Ironically, cheapo
cards using Jmicron chips worked fine...

I believe so, although I'd question the quality. In that:

- when I first upgraded to 10.6, the card was not recognised (System
Profiler -> PCI Devices saw it, but no driver was loaded)
- When I tried to install the driver from Lacie it kernel panic'd.
- At some point (possibly 10.6.1, can't quite remember OTTOMH) drivers
became available (System Profiler -> PCI Devices showed a driver as
loaded) and then I could use eSata devices.

Bug report?

With LaCie? Good luck with that :-) Last I heard the original Sil
driver was beta too, which doesn't bode particularly well. Investing in
a Jmicron-based card might be more productive.
