This is fantastic.

I was sick of my iTunes library just being an alphabetical list.

This free app pulls up the artwork you can can see the CD Cover on
your screen as you play it.

Ah.. iTunes does that. I don't remember when it started doing it, but it
definitely shows the covers if you so desire in 4.6 and 4.5.x. Maybe in 4.2,
I don't remember.

Yes, it shows the covers. But not quite the same way as Clutter does.

If youre a big music fan then this app looks great. Nice one!

I know there was a tip published recently in a Mac magazine (if you
want I can get the tip and print it?) that interogated your iTunes
music libary, then went off to Amazon, got the album art and inserted
it into iTunes autimatically for you (for all the albums!)

Putting in album art takes hours so if the above app does work (I've
not tried it yet) then thats another great program available foc.

One thing I've never been too clear on - where do you actually -get-
the cover art in the first place?

Places that sell music online often have images of the covers on their web
sites. The "Fetch Art" script I use searches Amazon, for example.

Chad my dear chap; *please* don't top post in ucsm. Apart from it being
a horrid and unhygenic practice, it's specifically mentioned as a no-no
in the FAQ.

Edit down the articles to which you reply, to preserve the sense, then
post your reply, in sections if necessary, *below* the points to which
you are responding. If you do, we can then get a clue to what you're on
about.

Being Mac users here, we do try to keep to decent standards. I hope you
understand.

Ooops, sorry ... I'm new to all this :o)

For Album art, just go to Amazon.co.uk and type the album or artist
name in the search bar. Amazon will then show a picture of the album
(plus the track names ... very handy if CDDB doesnt recognise your
disc and you have to manualy key them in). Click on the album and
Amazon will bring up an enlarged image of just the cover.

Highlight a track on the album you've just copied into iTunes, press
control A to highlight all tracks (does this work on a Mac?) and right
mouse click (I'm using a PC here!) and select 'Get Info'. Then drag
the Amazon album image into the empty 'Artwork' box and voila ...
iTunes will apply this to all the songs on the album (as long as you
selected all the songs).

Only downside is that artwork only shows when a song is playing, not
when you highlight the album - bummer that as it means you have to
play a song to see the album cover.

I thought there was a preference which will switch between showing the
artwork for the track that's playing OR the currently selected track. I
can't find it now though :-(

However you can Get Info on any track and look at the artwork.

Not for me. When you select a song, you see the album.
Do you have the artwork showing? Eddit -> Show artwork.

I look up albums at amazon and drag them from there to iTunes.
But not that often. I get bored after looking up 10-20 albums
worth.

It's actually easier than that.

Step 1 is the same (ie. open up a browser window showing the artwork
via Amazon etc)

Step 2. In iTunes, make sure you're in "Browse" mode, then select the
album you want to import the artwork for. Next, make sure the small
artwork viewer in bottom left of iTunes is visible (click the fourth
button along from the bottom left hand corner if not). You'll see a
greyed out image saying "Drag Album Artwork Here". Do just that, and a
few seconds later you'll see the artwork appear when you select an
album, not just when a song is playing.

Cheers

if you have your browser and iTunes visible on the screen at the same
time, you can simply drag the artwork from the browser into the
artwork box in the bottom left-hand of the iTunes screen - no need to
choose Get Info. I know that this works on a PC as well as I have
demoed it to people I work with, so it should save you a step :-

Not sure what you mean here, but if you click on the artwork box where
it's labelled "Selected Song", it changed to "Now Playing". Click it
again and it changes back. So you can choose whether to see artwork
for the song that you have highlighted or the one that is playing.
Hope that helps.

It's not supposed to be a rivetting read, it's supposed to demonstrate
how to quote in a way that makes it easier for people to follow what you
say. If you don't give a damn about the people who read your posts, they
won't bother to put in the effort, and you'll be ignored. Is that what
you want?

And anyway, I just read it - again - and it took me less than five
minutes. If you don't consider it worth spending less than five minutes
for the sake of your readers, why should they spend time working out
what you mean in your badly quoted posts?

Of course I care - but user groups are quite new to me so I had no
idea of the 'etiquette'. I've read the document now and digested ...
although its one heck of a long read for something that can easily be
said in a few sentances.

Well they have to cover all the bases, all degrees of misconception or
idiocy. Just in case.

But you got the polite friendly [1] one paragraph version first. The web
site is just revision reading...

[1] This is of course a polite and friendly place. Try the rest of
Usenet. I'm always being astonished by how pointlessly rude, stupid and
aggressive men (it's always men on Usenet although In Real Life there
are some disgusting slagettes out there too) can be.

By the way; you posted that reply twice. Not a criminal offence, but it
might be useful to know.

Oh no, you need to try the professionals.

alt.flames used to be good in an artificial kind of way (what's the
point of rudeness for its own sake?) although I've not looked there for
several years. Demon.local ditto, but it's more grinding and depressing.
The sig wars especially used to be a great cess pit of pointlessness.
Dunno what it's like now.

My Usenet life now is narrowed down to *nice* places. As I got older I
realised that there was absolutely no point to toughness or needless
contention. So I stopped taking any group that wasn't jolly nice chaps
and chapesses.

Many years ago I saw a prescient sign- it was in 1969 and we had just
spent three weeks doing the first ever all-over filming trip in East
Germany. It was interesting but claustrophobic in the extreme. We left
by the northern route and ended up in Lubeck. We'd got used to the
*extreme* grottiness of the DDR and everything we looked at in the West-
even dung heaps- looked gold plated. For our first dinner in the west we
walked from the hotel confronted with loads of little cheap restaurants
where the food was good and would be served in less than an hour. Then
we came across one that had little red and white checked curtains and a
notice in the window that said "Gemutlichkeit ist Trumpf". Cosiness is
trumps. That's where we went, and a slogan I've never ever forgotten.
Valid now as never before.

I think I do, since that was the best inslut I could come up
with.

Was in character for a paramedic training day - I was a road rage
instigator - and I turned to a chap who approached and shouted,
"Fuck off!" at him, and it turned out to be a little old mad and
I felt very guilty. What he was doing ambulance training I didn't
find out.

Very Sheddy. Perhaps a bit too cute. Knokingly cute is not as
good as cute cute. Like that picture of a kitten frolicking in a
field.

Men = pointlessly rude, stupid and aggressive
women = disgusting slagettes

Bella, if you so much as think about trotting out that crap about "If
men sleep with lots of girls they are studs, but if girls do it..." I
will write to: 1 Internet Towers, America, and have you struck off.

Nope. Truthful. Up to a point.

In my world, slagette long ago (back in the '70s, even) lost its
principally sexual connotation.

Generally women, even in rough environments, aren't nearly as physically
aggressive as some men, but they're just as foul-mouthed.

Of course they can be aggressive too. My daughter once researched girl
gangs for a TV doumentary, and she found them both foul and terrifying.
Her problem is that she was good at it, and found herself typecast as a
researcher for programmes about 'difficult' groups. In the end, helped
on by the behaviour of a (male) arsehole producer from hell, she changed
occupations.

I got it as part of an email joke I cannot find. Basically the
story set you up for viewing a pic of an horrific creature, then
this teensy weensy kitty appeared.

I think a "kitten refreshment" service would be good - I wouldn't
want a cat as a pet, but a kitten wouldn't be so bad. Just need
to swap them for a fresh one every 6 months or so, I guess.

OK; I got the impression you didn't. The *typical* top poster is
arrogant and doesn't like being told that there may be a better way. I
mistook your response as a sarcastic "fuck you, loser" (which you get a
lot as a netcop anyway).

If you only give a few sentences, people will always argue back that
their way is best. I think it's a reasonable compromise to have a
summary (with links) and highlighted yellow bits...

Oh yes. Domokun is like hello kitty. One day you are blythe, happy, your
life is full and complete. The next moment, you discover that there are
shades of human existence beyond anything you even imagined. And you
despair for the future of this species.

Surely, only for the Japanese?

We westerners have created the real towering achievements of mankind and
continue to produce them. Like Windows XP Family Edition. Complete with
paperclips.

No, Hello Kitty has spread its evil tentacle love throughout the Western
world.

Very strange place. After a bit it feels ws though you've crossed the

I don't hear the word 'slagette' much, if ever.

Ah, hold on! Perhaps there has been a grand misunderstanding. When I
said 'double standard', I only meant the degree of severity in the
descriptions, not references to sexual behaviour.

Hm yes, I seem to remember ending up fielding all the calls from
creditors in once place I worked, because I was supposedly best at
dealing with them. Ditto re boss.

So which is worse? Being pointlessly rude, stupid and aggressive, or
being a disgusting slagette?

The latter takes it to the next level, that's all.
