Looking forward to seeing you all. Those arrangements suit me fine Peter.

Phew.
Anyway, my last train home is 22:15. Is that going to mean ducking out early or is it going to be easy to manage? How long should I allow to get from the Ethiop**n to Paddington? And is anyone else going in that direction at that sort of time? I'll be changing at Swindon, apparently.

You'd have to leave no later than 9:30 at the most. It is a 7 min walk to KX but on all that Eth* beer it might be 15. Then negotiating King's X station and waiting for trains and finally making it to Paddington and your platform should be about half an hour. This might be a conservative estimate, of course; you could make it in less but unless you want to crash out in somebody's sofa in the Capital....
I'm afraid I wouldn't be coming along for a lot of the way -I live in Kentish Town, Camden; I could, conceivably, even walk home from Merkato (Iabout 25 min walk; probably won't, that'd be too healthy).

Surely there's an iPhone appl that will tell you which tube entrance and exit to use, which carriage to sit in, wake you up and tell you that you've missed your connection by 30 secs?

I am sorry to say I am not going to be able to make it after all, mainly because I've fumbled the juggling of a series of deadlines around the completion of a huge work project. So there goes my frikkin Ethiopian Friday.
Sorry about that. Have fun anyway, and I will try for the next one.

Good point. I actually have two iPhone tube apps, I just forgot about them. Don't know how reliable they are for timing though - much prefer a bit of local knowledge :)

Afraid there's a possibility I might be unable to make it either. I know I've ducked out at the last minute before, so feel I out to explain... We've just started the IVF injections again and didn't think ahead - if Han isn't comfortable self-injecting after tomorrow's attempt, I may have to stay in on Friday to do it for her. She doesn't really trust anyone else to do it for her.
If I don't make it, raise a glass to our hopeful success, yeah?

I'd imagine the first time will always be difficult, so I think I understand.

Absolutely. Just be sure to name your child Merkato in honour of what you missed out on :-)

*Raises cup of tea to Zoara & Hannah*
As it happens, I may come down earlier than expected due to changed appointment.
