Does anyone use Pixelmator already? Is it as nice as it looks? It
would be good to have something like the Gimp but without having to use
X11.

It isn't as nice as it looks. It can't convert from RGB to indexed
internally (only via a save as), the black widgets and tool icons on
black backgrounds work about as well as you'd imagine, there's a lack
of info/feedback in some tools (eg you can't crop precisely) and I
think the support's /possibly/ a bit flaky.

Other than that :-)

Cheers,

Chris

Concur; however I'm still glad I bought it. As a Photoshop Elements v2
replacement it's ok, and now it supports Quartz filters it's got a lot more
potential.

I agree that it still feels a bit v0.9, if you see what I mean. And I'd like
the black-on-black problems to be sorted.

You were having problems with the text tool as well, IIRC?

You'd have thought that would have been the easiest of fixes to make,
wouldn't you?

Going back to the other things in the bundle (which is only $39 for
those of us who've been playing along :-) - has anyone tried Cha-Ching?

Cheers,

Chris

Not that I recall, but it does act a bit...odd. Can't quite put my finger on
it but it's not quite intuitive.

I tried the demo a while ago - very shiny but no match for Quicken
(Windows) as a decent home finance package, just doesn't do enough.

The reviews I've seen so far seem slightly polarized between thinking
it fun and completely crippled.

I've got Jumsoft's Money, and it is frustrating in the extreme. IIRC
the first time you import a QIF file into an account it auto-classifies
things, but it never does it again. Pain in the arse.

It's both - it's an example of a category I'm suddenly going to
christen shinyware, it looks good and screenshots well, but has no
functional depth behind it. I mean, really - having iSight integration
for an accounts package -before- sorting out a decent calendar? Hmm.

Ah, so it is part of the "Delicious" generation?

That is a bit... odd.

I see Photoshop Elements 6 has just been "unveiled" for the Mac.

Sorry, that is what I meant, elements 6. I got it for a PC I bought last
month, as it was £10 at the time. Looked like a good thing but using it
the other day, I had to eventually resort to using paint as I couldn't
paste a screenshot into it, and I have to do that a fair bit.
Then it pissed me off when I was trying to do some web graphics, as it
draws outside the selection.
I reinstalled photoshop 7 and paintshop pro 8 now.

Adobe's site suggest it is basically iPhoto, with the extra feature
(the web site actually says this) it is "from the creators of Adobe
Photoshop". Who'd have thought?

Did I miss someone else mentioning above that they've just added
SpeedDownloader?

This makes 8 apps available immediately, and three added progressively
as purchases add up.

I've now bought.

CSSEdit's now unlocked, after 5000 bundles were sold. (-7 to go,
according to their web site :-)

There's no sign yet of when Snapz Pro gets unlocked...

Ah, now it says it gets unlocked at $100000, so roughly another 5000
bundles to go.

In a surprise move Snapz Pro is unlocked...and Pixelmator is set to unlock
at $100,000 for charity. (Approx another 2500 bundles to go)
