I want to buy a DVI & a VGA adapters for use with my 3.06GHz 24" iMac (early
2009)
It has a mini display port.

I was going to get one of these on ebay..(gsm-accessory)
Item #130346105048
I asked the seller and he sid it doesn't work with the 24" iMacs.
Anyone know what the differences are and which ones will work with my iMac
and the latest iMacs.

cheers

Don't know if it is an issue relating to the aftermarket accessory, or
if the seller just hasn't kept up and doesn't realise that iMacs have
had display ports since the previous revision.

If using the OEM Apple adapter, then you'd use the same one for MacBooks
as you would the iMacs.

There is no difference - miniDP is (thankfully) miniDP, so it should
work.

Thanks for bringing this up - I just got myself a new MBP 13" and then
had to go out again to get an Apple miniDP to DVI adapter (20), but
until you posted I hadn't thought that since miniDP is an actual
standard then much cheaper non-Apple adapters would exist! Just
ordered a VGA one.

Cheers - Jaimie
