Hi,

I have bought a Shuttle barebone system, with built-in graphic card (NVidia
GeForce 4MX). However, I get some sort of blurred/ghost picture when used
with a Samsung 17'' TFT screen.

The screen runs in 1280x1024 (32 bits), and the refresh rate is set to 72
Hz. The picture quality overall is allright, but I get some sort of white
lines around text (like a ghost image, as if the same text was written in
white underneath with an slight offset). It only seems to happen on text,
but it makes reading text tireing for the eyes.

Does anybody know if this is related to the graphic card, or to the screen
itself? Which refresh rate is optimum at that resolution (60 hz, 72 or 75?).

I tried to download the latest driver for the graphic card from NVidia's
website directly, but when it's installed, the screen can no longer be used
in 32 bits at 1280x1024, at more than 60hz...

Thanks,

Stef

I've seen tiny fonts do this on my CRT (Iiyama 454), when running at high
resolutions. Try increasing the font size and switch the font smoothing
to "cleartype" - if it isn't on already.

Might be worth trying a different signal cable (unless it's a digital
monitor).

Depends on the TFT - probably 60Hz. They don't have the same flicker
issues as a CRT

It's probably smart enough to know what rate it should be running at.

Hi,

I think the integrated NVidia MX4 card does not cope very well with the TFT
screen, in 1280x1024.

The screen is a Samsung 17'' 172V, and I have seen it running in a shop,
connected to an ATI 9200 card, with perfect result...

I am therefore thinking about putting an AGP card inside my shuttle xpc,
like a Radeon 9200
or Radeon 9200SE.

Does anybody know if:

1) those cards are compatible with the shuttle barebone system

2) if they don't produce too much heat for the case, or have cooling issues

3) if it would be better to buy the SE version to get a cooler case

Thanks!
