The "superhubs" have a config option to switch them to modem mode, so
it's not an issue.

least if you don't try their wireless support.
One thing though - as soon as you being using the SH I think something
at VM remotely disables your old cable modem. Don't expect to switch
back and forth between them.

Doesn't 20Mbps require that the modem you're using uses DOCSIS 3? Your
old one probably uses DOCSIS 2.x.

The Superhub is OK, as long as you set it to modem-only mode. Or at

I had 20 meg on a Docsis 2 modem for ages. I think VM would just like

I seem to be doing O.K. with wireless and my SuperHub - it just has some
broken options in the DHCP area, to do with reserving IP addresses for
specified MAC addresses.
Certainly getting the 30Mbps to match the service.
When I get around to terminating all the bare wires threaded about the
house I should be able to roll over to using mainly wired (although this
isn't going to solve my DHCP issues) which should up my speed a bit.

most issues are user problems.
I read all the forum BS before mine got "forced" on me, and was worried.
This was prior to the modem only software upgrade. Turned out every
device (various laptops and desktops with different chipsets, Apple
stuff, Android stuff, blackberrys, and so on) I have works perfectly
well with, with an increased range over my old set up.
Early SH versions may well have has issues, but right now, I see none to
do with wireless. In my set up, its been a revelation. I have reduced 4
network devices down to one.
If I have a criticism its that the router software is offer terrible
access control, and no bandwidth management.

things. Personally, I couldn't wait for Virgin/Netgear to fix things
and had to get a separate wifi router. As a side-effect I have some
better access control and can now create a single IPv6 tunnel for my
entire network.

the modem/router firmware actually buys anyone...

cabinet just down the street and they keep offering me really
good deals.
Internally, house is wired for gigabit via a switch which works
very very well, with just a cable from switch to the modem/router
for internet access. Everything gets its IP via the DHCP server
in the modem/router. Will it just be a matter of moving the ethernet
cable from the old ADSL modem to the wired port on the Superhub?
Can I assume any wireless devices connecting directly to the SH can
see everything on the wired side?
