I've just notionally run out of toner for the first time on a 1320c laser,
and it's locked up. Within the toolbox software there is a "Use Non-Dell
Cartridge" setting which bypasses the chip, but it insists on a four digit
"password" before accepting any changes. I'm pretty confident I never set
one up (and I've tried my standard PINs).
Anyone know if there is a default code? Have also just emailed Dell Tech
Support
TIA
Steve
have you tried
admin
password
?

Thanks; curiously enough, I found stuff somewhere in a manual talking about
default ID and Password being admin, admin, and at one time I was prompted
for ID and password, and these two failed. However after doing a full
reinstall, at the moment the Password window that I get only has one field,
and it will only accept four digits: it rejects any character.
But thanks for the suggestion, I will try your two if I get the two field
box again.

I can't remeber the context now but some six months or so ago I had a
similar problem with a customers printer (can't remember the make) and
he also could not remember ever creating a 'password'. After some
research I spoke to someone who would provide basic support and he/she
suggested 0 0 0 0 ie 4 zeros
Worked like a charm!
Lets hope it does the same for you.

Sadly, I tried four zeros and it just laughed at me (still waiting for email
from Dell Support)
