Anglo American gal

Anglo American gal - forty, lonely, loves getting e mail, divorced and
misses male company. I would love to get to know you better if....You
are a fellow American living in England or an Englishman. Do you love
spring bulbs and blossoms, summer storms, fall colours and winter
woollies?Do you like mountain walks, log cabins, horses and dogs, log
fires, chamber music, operas, huge chintz covered sofas covered in dog
hair, Georgian silver, watercolour landscapes, delft tiles, Adams
fireplaces, Queen Anne style houses, Regency chairs, Chaise longues,
Chaucer Mark Twain, Dickens, Shaw and preferr the King James Version
of the the Bible above all others??

Do you dislike astrology and new-agers and does lloyd Grossman's
accent drive you batty??Do you dislike grocery shopping and buying
clothes but spend far too long and spend too much in book shops and
garden centres??Do you dislike designer label clothes (except for
Ralph Lauren) but like clothes by Brooks Brothers, Lands End, LL Bean,
or suits from Saville row and shirts from New and Lingwood.

Are you comfy in cords and much patched woollies, green wellies, tweed

jackets, blazers and barbour jackets..Did you go to a British or
American boarding school as I did where cold classrooms and bad food
were thought to be character building?? Do you belong to a gentleman's
club in St James' or Pall Mall or are you listed in the Socail
Register,??

Do you have an old school tie?? Are you moved my hymns like Jerusalem,
I vow to thee my country, Onward Christian soldiers and Immortal
Invisible?? Do you cherish sepia photos and dark oil portratis of your
ancestors?? Do the words lounge, settee, fron room , serviette and
pardon make you cringe?? Have you ever kissed the Blarney stone,
picked heather in the Scottich highlands, owned a house in France,
picked Rosemary or Lavender in the Languedoc, had a picnic in the
Boboli gardens of Florence, been to a concert with Stradivarius
violins in the Mirabelle palace of Salzburg, swum at Copacabana beach,
crossed the Andes, haggled in a Middle Eastern souk, admired the tiles
in the Palace at Sintra, smelt the roses at Giverny or taken shelter
in the great glass house at Kew during a rain storm? Have you been
serenaded by Mariachis in a Mexican zocalo or climbed the pyramid at
Chichenitza or sunk your toes into the white sands of the beach
atTulum? Have you been to an afternoon concert at the Gardner Museum
or taken a swan boat ride or watched the Red Sox in my home town?

Do you admire the Serpentine Wall at the University of Virginia
designed by an ancestor of mine? Have you ever watched or played in a

Harvard/Yale football game or taken part in the Oxford Cambridge boat
race? Are you confiedent with a menu in French, Spanish or Italian?
Have you been to the Tivoli gardens or had your hair and eyebrows
freeze after a walk through the streets of Stockholm? Do you enjoy
planting trees, watching bulbs naturalise and spread each year but
hate collecting grass cuttings and weeding??Are you perhaps an absent
minded professor or a vicar with a leaking church roof or and
over-worked lawyer or a stressed out banker or broker or a housemaster
trying to maintain discipline for teenagers? If so would you like to
go home to a loving and affectionate lady who would listen to you and
sympathise and help you to relax and unwind. Do you travel a lot and
could you pack a widely travelled and well educated lady into your
suitcase??

I would love to hear from you by e mail if any of the above applies to
you - we would share a lot in common and perhaps we could meet and
explore new vistas. Perhaps you are non of the above but it does not
matter - I am looking for friendship and good company. If you are a
single, solvent male aged between forty and seventy and you think we
could enrich eachother's lives I would love to hear from you..I am
attractive fit and healthy and a wonderful homemaker but a tough
cookie feminist career lady I am definitely not. I have two daughters
- one at boarding school and the other soon to start University.. I
live in a famous English Cathedral City opposite one of the oldest
schools in the country and about half and hour's drive from a great
University town that the river Cam runs through.

I shall end this with an Anton Chekhov quote from Uncle Vanya:--'A
woman can become a man's friend only in the following stages - first
an aquaintance, next a mistress, and only then a friend..I would take
pleasure in proving Mr Chekhove is wrong..I look forward to hearing
from you and until then Au revoir.
