Oh come on, stop being tight! There's £50 of CPU in the first one alone!

If you think that £50 is a fair current price for an XP2400 CPU then
I'll sell you as many as you want! Seriously, under a tenner would be
more realistic.

£38 max. on eBay, most quite a lot less with several fully tested for
£20 Buy It Now. Similar spec. complete machines have recently sold on
eBay from around £60.

Starting to make Linux look even more attractive. A fast office
workstation or server for £60...

Although I've been using Linux for ten years I've always had MS Windows
of one sort or another for everyday use, but I think I'll soon reach the
point where Linux is my main OS. It's just a shame I can't get
Microplanet Gravity to run under WINE - maybe I should have a go at
porting it to Linux. :-)
OTOH MS might finally get their act together with Vista and make it
worth investing in some newer hardware - I'll not hold my breath though.

We can always run Windows on a virtual machine under Linux. :-)

This is getting offtopic, but: I just installed Gravity 2.7 under
wine,
and the GUI started fine. Some log messages and the notes at
http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iAppId=615
make me think that the database problems it has might be
worked around by using native DCOM, see
http://wiki.winehq.org/NativeDcom
Let me know if that helps. Either way, if you could file a bug at
http://bugs.winehq.org, it'd be great. Us Wine folks really want to
help.

I'm currently running Xandros with a trial version of Crossover Office, so I
thought I'd have a play with that. After a fair bit of trial and error I found
that installing DCOM95 (one of the CXO compatible packages) then
installing DCOM98.EXE under Windows 95 and running Gravity under
Windows 95 seems to solve the database problem. I'm still having a
few problems, but this is posted with Gravity on Linux. :-)
Thanks for your encouragement, I'll have another fiddle with WINE now
I know that I have a reasonable chance of getting it to work.

OK, I've filed
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7536
to reflect the fact that Gravity works with native DCOM.
Hopefully we can get it working without that crutch soon.
Thanks for the success report.
