Many serious flaws in the Adobe Flash player on all platforms
are patched in a new version. Critical updates to Windows, and a
major cumulative update to Internet Explorer, were released in
the December Patch Tuesday. Many are suspicious of Google's
motives for its new Public DNS service--and there's reason to
wonder why Google is doing it. Symantec has said that its
OnlineFamily.Norton parental control service will remain free.

Seven vulnerabilities, many critical, have been patched in
updates. The end of PowerPC Mac support for Flash has also been
announced.

The service is still "experimental," and you have to wonder what
Google's reason is for offering it. But it certainly could be a
good thing.

OnlineFamily.Norton to Remain Free
Symantec's OnlineFamily.Norton parental control service,
previously scheduled to switch from free to paid in January
2010, will remain free indefinitely. Symantec plans to launch a
for-pay Premium edition in mid-2010.
