The new Voyager is a fantastic software. I am very pleased to see so
much creativity. There are many things to learn and I wanted to ask,
if there is a video tutorial available. Trying the first instructions
from the manual made me wonder why the picture on my computer was 90°
different than the one in the book?

How can we best proceed to understand all the new features between AM5
and V2 ?

Really fantastic!

Hi Hans,

There is not a video tutorial available. In addition to the pdf tutorials and extensive new pdf documentation (with a lot of example trees and explanations), there are some additional tutorials that have been posted by Dick Scherzinger which you can find over on the Facebook ArtMatic page (you don't need to be a Facebook member to view them): http://www.facebook.com/artmatic

If you run into  problem while performing a printed tutorial, please ask for help. Please indicate the page number and name of the document, and I will be happy to help you figure out what went wrong.

From what you describe it sounds like the camera might have been pointing in a different direction or two tile inputs might have been swapped or there was a rotation component that was setting differently.

The best way to understand the new features is to go through the new documents, perform the tutorials provided, and to analyze the Artmatic structures (and build them yourself) that are shown in the examples.

In the documents that cover the new features, I tried to provide a lot of example ArtMatic structures with explanations and diagrams.

Also, it needs to be emphasized that the tutorials all assume that you already have a good understanding of the way the ArtMatic structures work and how Artmatic maps to ArtMatic Voyager -- so, if you haven't performed the ArtMatic tutorials (especially the ones in the ArtMatic Voyager manual) make sure to do so.

Anyway, please ask whenever you get stuck or confused -- those questions are the best way for us to know what the points of confusion are and help us refine the presentation. We hope to have some video tutorials BUT it can't be emphasized enough that such tutorials are going to tend to be supplementary.

Best regards,

Edward

Hans

Hello Edward,

thanks for your reply. I finally printed out the manuals......(it
killed my cardridges)

I would like to ask you a question regarding the animation with
Voyager.

I have a photo of a city skyline. There is water in front of it and
blue sky above it.

Could you think of a way I could animate the water and the sky while
keeping the photo?

Like in AM powerperlin.vy for example? Replacing the mountain with a
photo.

cheers

Hans

Hi Hans,

It will be tricky to do what you want without it looking odd. The only way to get your photo into Voyager is by creating an ArtMatic system that displays the photo and using that as the backdrop. You could remove the sky from your photo but that might look odd in Voyager. You can try and see.

Best,

Edward
