Hi

I am making svn repositories for the stuff I am doing. But I need to know which file to copy into svn so the montage can be copied and used out of the svn repository by another MetaSynth user

Unless, the person has all the elements of the montage, you need to make an archive of the entire mo tage folder and upload that. The montage file itself is not enough.

Best,

Edward

This complicates the life of the publishers and collaborators

Hi Dara,

This is true of almost any multimedia app. You don't want the montage file itself tomhave all the data embedded. If you had it all embedded in one file then you could not easily create variations of your sequence or save waypoints without using up HUGE amounts of disk space. a montage might have hundreds of megabytes of resources associated with it.

I was not being critical, I just do not know how to setup a collaboration and publishing platform for the work I do with MetaSynth.

Hello Edward

Not to waste time, I do not have anyone to collaborate anything right away, but like svn and ftp and git and so on, one archives his work for others in future to carryon.

So got myself svn (and soon git) servers up, but that has the complication with the montage as I asked earlier.

Hi Dara,

To share, you just:
  • make sure that everything (including multisampler or sampler samples) is somewhere in the montage's folder.
  • in the Finder, control-click on the montage folder
  • choose the 'Compress' or 'Archive' item in the popup (the name is different in different versions of the OS)
  • upload the resulting zip file
The zip file will have everything everyone needs.

Best,

Edward

Will do, I experimented with the svn servers, they can take a beating with super large files.
