Dear Green Team captains & members,

We have discussed these issues during last week's captain meeting but
I wanted to send a reminder to all of you:

1. If you would like to be involved in the Sustainable Soltuions Award
judging committee, please contact Jessica via email by December 4th.
The judging committee will consist of some Green Team captains, some
students and some of the Office of Sustainability staff. If you were a
part of an entry for the award, you will abstain from judging that
particular entry.

2. For spring 2010, the Office of Sustainability is planning to launch
an "Chomp down" energy efficiency campaign. Anna Prizzia mentioned
this during the meeting last week but we would like an estimate number
of the light switch stickers that your department would like. We want
to make sure that your department has the right amount of stickers.
Remember that we have we have single and double switch stickers so
please specify how many your department would need of each kind. For
multiple light switch plates, we're offering a card that can be placed
above the light switch plate so keep that in mind, too, when sending
Jessica a final number.

We will most definitely have extras in case we need more.

Thanks, all!

Don't forget to check out the College of Education's recycling event
today at 3:30 p.m. at Norman Courtyard!

Sincerely,
Jessica

Jessica,
If possible, I would like to have 150 of each type for over here at Shands.
It will not be enough but it will be a good start.  Thanks ...

Regarding light switch stickers, I'd welcome anyone's suggestions for getting them cleared with department heads (as well as building services) so that Anna doesn't get those nasty e-mails. :)

My college is huge, so I can't necessarily go talk to everyone that needs to be on board, and somehow I don't see too many faculty members taking the time to read an e-mail proposing stickers on light switches, much less consider and approve it. Has anyone already successfully tackled this?

Thanks,
Sarah

Due to high number of responses on this matter, I waited for more
responses to come in and compiled into one message so that you don't
all get 3 messages in a row.

Here are some more useful tips from your fellow Green Team members
regarding light switch stickers:

"Since this pertains to all, I'll respond to all - my suggestion is to
send the email about them along with the reference to UF's
sustainability policy to the people like the dean's, chairs, chiefs,
etc who can make it happen and ask them if they would be willing to
help promote UF's carbon footprint reduction in this manner. The other
possibility would be to have the Sustainability office have an email
sent to the DDD list under Dr. Machen's name (with his approval of
course) to further the strive towards sustainabilith for UF."
- Joyce Conners

"We will be sending out a DDD to get buy-in from administration, so I
would just do a cursory audit for now to give us a ball park figure,
and
work on approval once the DDD has gone out (which we will alert you
of).

My suggestion in terms of process would be to take a copy of the DDD
to
the Dean or Director of your unit, and to talk with them."
- Anna Prizzia

"VP for Administration is usually a good place to start. If you can
get them on board, have them send out an informatory email to all
faculty and staff when you are ready to roll it out. Works here at the
Foundation... "
