Hello Green Team Captains!
By now most of you should have received your Chomp Down on Energy packets in the mail, while new captains should receive theirs shortly. We hope it has all the information you need to be successful in starting your energy conservation program. To order more light switch stickers or cards, or if you need additional information, please continue to contact Ashley Pennington at amp...@ufl.edu. Below is an email that you can use or modify to send to faculty, staff, and students in your department/unit to tell them about the Chomp Down on Energy Campaign.
Faculty, Staff, and Students,
UF has just launched its energy efficiency campaign, Chomp Down on Energy, which encourages faculty, staff and students to turn off lights and shared office equipment when not in use. In these budget constrained times, we cannot afford to waste on consumption. The main campus spent roughly $38 million for electricity in 2008 with lights and equipment, such as computers and copiers, typically accounting for roughly 30-40% of a building’s energy use.
To capture all the savings, we need everyone to do their part. Manuals and light switch stickers to promote best practices for energy savings have been distributed to the department. We will be participating in the effort, and hope you will support the effort to conserve energy in our area. For more information on what you can do to help, please contact me at __________. You can also visit www.sustainable.ufl.edu to learn more. Remember, join your fellow gators and Chomp Down on Energy.
Sincerely,
Ashley
