Greetings,

The forecast calls for a high of 66 both tomorrow and Friday -- perfect
to skip out on work and go for a bike ride instead! There is supposed to
be more wind tomorrow (23mph) than Friday (9mph) but after Sunday's ride
either of those should feel like a gentle breeze.

So, let's get a group together. Who can ride? is Wednesday or Friday
better? is morning or afternoon better? I'm good for either day with
mornings preferred but afternoons fine as well. Who's with me?

Geoff.

I think I can get away with taking half a day off either day. I have a slight preference for mornings.

Valerie

Geoff,

Tomorrow (Wednesday) morning doesn't work for me. I am flexible the rest of the week. But not as keen to ride Friday.

Is Thursday also a possibility? Not quite as warm, but still pretty warm in the afternoon, sunny, and less windy than tomorrow.

I also can't ride Wed but I'm available both Thur and Fri mornings. Mark had indicated an interest in riding T/Th's as well. If we do these as 9sih to 11ish rides, we can proceed to have mostly productive days assuming we don't kill our legs.

I should also add that there's a 70% chance of severe storms on Friday from the model I looked at. Thursday promises something 38-40 at 9am with winds out of the west (suggesting a Mahomet coffee shop ride via L. of the Woods).

Thursday is looking best all the way around.  Is Monticello too much of a stretch?  Mike

Although you all did a crap job of choosing between riding on Wednesday or Friday, it looks like we still managed to pull a ride together...

Let's plan to ride on Thursday, leaving at 9:00 from Charlie's house (805 S Coler, Urbana) and heading to Mahomet (about 40 miles round trip) for a quick stop at the Coffee shop (cinnamon rolls and coffee... yum). It sounds like we have 5-6 riders so far (Charlie, Gary, Mark, Valerie, me and maybe Mike) but a few more would make it even more fun -- and certainly more fun than work!

Hope to see you on Thursday...

Geoff.

p.s. Mike -- we can meet you at N Market and Ford Harris (or anywhere along Ford Harris) around 9:40 if you don't want to ride into Urbana.

People,

I'm planning to be there, assuming my legs recover by then from the punishment they received trying to keep up with Charlie on a 45-minute run yesterday.

Maybe I shouldn't try to keep up with the young guys!

Gary,

Due to my lack of expertise, the photo failed to appear on my previous email.  Lets try again.
This is the overpass I was recommending to cross single file.  Most others I prefer two abreast
depending on road conditions.

I will try to be at Charlie's at 9.  Until I learn to limit my consumption, I need the extra miles.
Do they have pie in Mahomet?

Mike

Never thought I'd be the one to ask, but would it be possible to push the ride a little earlier? I would love to ride, but I have class at 12.
Before you say no, consider that tomorrow is my birthday.

Miles & People,

I can leave as early as anyone wants to leave.

What is the latest earliest time that a slacker can ride tomorrow?

It's officially the Miles Lincoln birthday ride! I'm all for pushing the ride up to 8:30 -- how's everyone else feel? Also, depending on the weather site you follow, the wind will either be from the W or the SW so we may want to change our route to Sadorus. How's that sound? But, as always, I'm up for anything...

Geoff.

p.s. I'm glad we're not riding today!

Annie,

With my vast knowledge in the field of genomic biology (just slightly ahead of my vast computer knowledge), I would
gladly donate my time to the Neuroscience Program so you could partake in Miles' Birthday Ride (don't forget to take
a present).  If that is not acceptable then I'll sacrificially drag myself over to Charlie's at 8:30.

People,

Wind is from the west, not southwest. So we should do Mahomet. How about as Geoff originally proposed for Mike, but 30 minutes earlier, so meeting Mike around 9:10 instead of 9:40?
