Is chapter 5 still in Limbo? I thought I'd published it. That and
episode 7.
So we're missing 6, 8 and 9. I wonder what (if anything) we can do to
strengthen Seotch-sans heart in working with the project.
Martin,
Tried that, they said no.
I mail him few weeks ago about that. Maybe a fundraising will do, but
still got no reply...
is that the problem why the 5th hasn't released yet and Seotch
disappearance, sir?
No, because I asked him and ASCII way before the 1st issue. The 5th
issue isn't missing, it's the 6th.
Martin,
2011/5/22 Tua-tua keladi. Makin tua makin brengsek. <black...@gmail.com>:
I'm still alive! @@;
But sorry for my disappearance and the delay of the release. :(
As I've said few months ago, I am now facing a financial issue,
caused by the loss of several income sources.
I'm now seeking and preparing for new manga & illustration related
jobs, but frankly, I have to say the situation is still uncertain.
I'd been mentally up to the chin, to dedicate my effort fully to the project. :(
But I know I can't leave it forever, considering you guys and the several
readers are still waiting for a new issue. (And I'm kinda glad about it. :) )
So I decided to release one or two episodes within days,
hopefully until the end of the month.
Sad to say, the episode 9 could be the final release of "Ubunchu! ".
For several reasons, the publication of "Ubuntu Japanese Magazine",
in which the manga was running, has been stalled nearly a year.
And there seems to be no prospect for the next issue,
at least as far as i can see.

OMG. Sorry for missing your kind mail.
I'm really glad about your suggestion of making a donation page.
But to be frank, I feel it difficult.
The project is not only mine. Without the translators' efforts,
it would've never been read around the world in the first place.
So I feel it's not fair to reap the benefit from it exclusively.
If do so, it should be placed on ubunchu.net and shared by
all the translators. And I guess, it would be unrealistic. ;)
Alternatively, I'm now planning to self-publish "Ubunchu!" in Japanese
with a bonus episode in book and e-book form this summer.
If the translators are interested in publishing the e-book in each language,
we could share the revenue respectively. Thoughts?
Regards,

It's so good to hear from you.
It would be good to have more issues available to translate, I
understand if the ASCII magazine is finished that it can be hard to get
it out. but at least now we have a finish and getting issues 6, 8 and 9
released would mean we have a complete set.
The revenue sharing is interesting, we have to work out some copyright
license issues before we could do that, but it's certainly interesting
to me. We'd also have to decide if you want to take the left to right or
right to left versions to publish.
For each edition we'd have to have to license the translated text and
edited derivative graphics under a commercial license. Fortunately I'm
the editor for the English editions.

Sure, It's seemed to be a bit complicated, but we have to handle re-licensing
issue. Maybe I would confer with ASCII over the license again, as
Carlos suggested.
Anyway, the first step should be for me to write a bonus episode and
edit a book.
I will think over the rest in the meantime. :)

Ya, I've been working with a publisher on a new manga series since last year,
but it's not certain when it will be printed even at this point.
Meanwhile I've got
a temporary job as an instructor in manga / illustration though, I may have to
seek out another project sooner or later :(
> Great idea, you can count on me!
Thank you! ;)
+good luck, +godspeed, sire... :)
