Hello

May be interesting to create a new plugin to handle the different
setting of ubiquo plugins. For example we can assign a default
metatags and metadescription for pages in ubiquo_design, or set for
ubiquo_core how many items will be shown on index views.

ubiquo_setting would have its own tab to centralize the settings of
the ubiquo plugins. Each plugin has its own link on the submenu of
ubiquo_setting tab.

Ubiquo_setting will contain a model Setting for the creation of all
setting field. Each field will be a new entry in the table of Setting
model. This type of settings was recently used in new ubiquo projects.
It will include email validation and ubiquo_media items. ubiquo_i18n
will be used in this plugin to manage the different settings for each
locale.

To include the setting of one ubiquo_plugin, this plugin will need to
create a new migration with the insertion of new fields. To show his
setting a plugin must have a new folder in view path with the correct
name “setting”, in this folder will be placed the partial for the
form.

This are some of the features which can include in this plugin, but
may you have another way create this plugin? I forget something o do
you want to include other feature?

Hey Carlos,

I agree such a plugin will be handy. As for the implementation, a
key/value table looks ok to me but if somebody thinks that another
implementation is better we can discuss it.

The easy handling of media_attachments is one of the most interesting
features since I know it was somewhat annoying in some implementations I
have seen.

Using a convention file to add a plugin form is a good starting point
but we'll have to think more about it. Anyway we can start with a basic
set of extensibility and later add more capabilities.

I was thinking we would need at least three field types:

* input text
* On/Off checkbox
* select from a list

Instead of using a convention file for the form I was thinking more
about doing it config like from plugins so forms could be build
automatically.

Carlos, maybe you could write a little technical implementation
draft with the basic features in the initial version.

I think we need to stress that this system isn't a replacement for
ubiquo_config. It's important to avoid the "drupal config hell". This
system should only handle config for things that make sense from the
user point of view.

For example selecting the number of rows to display on listings is
not the kind of thing I would put in there since it adds a lot of
noise for more relevant options.

Cheers
Ramon

Bernat,

What do you mean with this?

"The easy handling of media_attachments is one of the most interesting

have seen."

Sorry but I don't get it.

Thanks
Ramon

Yep I meant that for example simply adding a "logo" setting using
media_attachment was not straightforward in our early implementations
