recently I use "creat search" command in Ubiquity to creat some search command, it did work for English, But I didn't work for Chinese.

So I want to correct the command code, but don't know which Function to use? to convert the {Query} to Unicode.

So the "makeSearchCommand" simply doesn't  work for Chinese.

As one of the main authors of makeSearchCommand, I am sorry to hear this -- I have little to no experience with Chinese, but we have several Japanese developers and I assume fixing it for them would fix it for you too?

It would be great if you could create a bug report for this; makes it easier to poke people about it :-)

Best regards, and thanks for the feedback

Just an update; satyr has been a busy bee as usual, and a fix has now been pushed to hg: https://ubiquity.mozilla.com/hg/ubiquity-firefox/rev/4c5188789534

It would be great if someone could test it out in Chinese (and other non-utf8 languages) and report back.

For those not wanting to run the development version, the change will also be available in the next beta.

Best regards,

But I am a new Ubiquity user, I don't know how to test it.  use "hack ubiquity" or subscribe a new script?

You have to run the development version of Ubiquity to test out the new feature - alternatively you can wait till next beta is released and run that instead. I am hopeful this will happen within a week, but I can make no promises.

Satyr also created this example to test the feature, so if you are having problems, perhaps this can serve as a guide (indeed the rest of the page might also help) https://wiki.mozilla.org/Labs/Ubiquity/Writing_A_Search_Command#Searching_with_a_different_charset

It is easiest for you if you use the editor in "Hack Ubiquity", but as I said, you will need the latest development version to use this feature.

Best regards

but It does not work either, look this url:http://video.baidu.com/v?word=%E7%94%9F%E7%89%A9%20%E6%9D%BF%E4%B9%A6

I must refresh it then I can get my search results, otherwise it is Garbled code.
