fastloader / fastsaver for uiec

Hello,

what would you recommend as the best (in a sense: fastest while fully reliable, preferably with sources freely available) fastloader and especially fastSAVER that works with current uiec / sd2iec firmware? I read the README file from sd2iec firmware but what I lack is a sort of a table with most common software speeders and whether they work for reading and writing. Or maybe the situation is that no fastsavers actually work with uiec?

I know JD supports fast save, but I couldn't tell you if it was the fastest.

Thanks, I'll check what speedup it brings to uIEC saving. Although the problem with JD is that unless I reverse and reimplement its protocol, I understand I am not supposed to use in my own programs. Hm.. I guess somebody must have already done it (reimplementation) before.. maybe that'd be a reasonable way.

SD - Just so you are aware (and Jim can correct me seriously with a wet
IEC cable, all of the fast loaders and savers that you might find for
1541 or other commodore disk drives have to be hand written and
engineered for the UIEC - CF devices. So I believe there aren't many
implemented....

Meaning, some thing may have been written some time ago. But someone or
Jim, would have to reverse engineer the protocol stack or watch hardware
with some type of logic or oscilloscope to figure it out the various
parts to it, along with the ram stack or bios rom calls in the drives
and C64...

Not an easy task except for the faint of heart of knowledge of the
Internet C= DOS BIOS roms, which I believe there are many different
revisions out there. Then you have to add in all of the other and
different modified RAM and disk based IO roms, which JiffyDOS is just one.

I believe I remember reading Jim and a few others have implemented a few
fast loaders, though saving may not be. Only he can answer that, since
he is the principle designer. And he also owns rights to a whole slew of
different JiffyDOS roms (including several new hardware versions..)

I do hope to read more on this subject. If people don't know, I'm
fascinated with C= I/O products, projects and utilities...

I am aware. But I also understand that /some/ are supported. That's why I asked about those which work with current firmware. While it is more easy to derive, which fastLOADERs work, it is more difficult to understand from the docs whether saving part works as well or not.

So far it seems that only JiffyDOS was clearly mentioned (by Jim) as working both ways. I tried to find my JD EPROMS and check what can be achieved on saving with JD, but seem to have lost their whereabouts together with some other items from the same time. Of course I guess I shall find them only once I no longer need them ;-)
