Hi, Let me Introduce myself, I am parthiv shah. Our Company is Proses Technologies India and we have just started Development in Typo3. So would like to know more tips and tricks and learn more about typo3.
I think the main problem we are facing in India, as most of the developers work on Microsoft technologies as its easier to learn. Apart from that in countries like Europe and Latin America, Open Source has created a big market, so wherever I went in Latin america, it seems that the people are aware of open source php applications and are used wery widely like, Dotproject a project management system, so this two parts of the world have distributed with technology difference.
Hope we all can develop a very good Typo3 community in India and arrange training sessions and seminars as held in Germany and other countries.
Welcome the user-group. I can tell you that in Europe we are well aware of the fact that open-source technology and ofcourse for us especially TYPO3, needs lots of attention and energy to grow in Asia. But we firmly believe that it will set foot in the mainstream just as it did in south america. In China open source software already has special attention form the government who are promoting all kind of projects in the open source field. Recently I read in a Dutch IT magazine that in India the same kind of processes are going on. You government seems to distribute cdroms with open source software for free by the millions, is this true?
Anyhow, in Europe we are very bizzy with the structure of the TYPO3 community and the Association. We are developing new marketing strategies and I can promise you that India will be incorporated in it. One of the discussions is if we might setup a special TYPO3 portal for regions like India and other asian countries. But we will need the support of all you guys available so I hope we can count on your active support!
Ciao,
Sander Vogels
btw I've setup an official TYPO3 mailinglist between all other UG lists. Problem is at the moment that there is something wrong with the Adminfunction of Mailman and the administrator canoot find the cause of the problem. The adress will be www.typo3.org.in

Yes Sander, that is true, we need to have that awerness seminars and may be possible conduct IT fairs, as I just took out a surver with freshers in the universities around my region, and I was shocked to know that nobody was interested in development or working with Opensource technology with .PHP, they all want to work with Java or .Net, as they thing this opensource technologies are not well accepted around India. And that's one of the most important reason why Developers are not willing to work on such platfroms.
But we can spread awarness Presenting ourselves in IT fairs, University Campus and many other ways to do that. Also I haven't found if any Government Body is distributing any CD.So it might be just a rumor.
But still I am ready to give full support to promote this technology in India.
I agree with parthiv ......we got to increase awareness ..and typo3
in India to next level
in fact I am working on localization of typo3 as various Indian local
languages and another typo3 based customized offering called typo3
e-governance and typo3 e-learning ....i hope to release soon as i get
more free time...
Sanders, any idea when we will get/can get access to typo3.co.in as
I would luv to see this initiative better organized , if there is
some issues then I can dedicate some resources (like web
space/bandwidth ) now and maybe later move to typo3.co.in

Well I'm still waiting for Michael Stucki to fix the admin function of Postman, the listprogramm used for all T3 UG lists.
We will keep the domain a mailinglist untill the portal is ready. We have now a concept for the Dutch portal which I like to use for India too. Also at the new TYPO3.com portal there will be an indian section I assume but this will take much time.
Are you and the others willing to help building a new portal which we can use for the Indian/Asian market? I would welcome some hands in the TYPO3 implementationa and of course for content input. Volunteers?
