I know it is not good politics to "generalize", but there are signs of
momentum building with the one segment of the Texas population we must have
with all good and patriotic Texans in order to beat back the anti-Second
Amendment liberal/socialists.

But, "generally", most Latino politicians are anti-gun (and I would love to
be corrected, if this is incorrect!). There are some who are patriots and
pro-Second Amendment and we are proud to have them on the right side.
Furthermore, it seems to be demonstrable that Southern Democrats are
generally more conservative than the eastern "moderate" Republicans. (As
the saying went in our denomination - before the socialists took it over -
Baptists make the best Presbyterians... it also goes that Southern Democrats
make the best conservative Republicans... right or wrong? I say right)

For generations the fine Latino population of Texas, mostly South Texas, has
been misled by perfidious Democrat politicians with the mantra that "only"
they can "care" for the Latinos in the barrios and colonias. One of the
main purposes of the demand for "bilingual" (everything) is to keep these
honorable folks from being able to read the conservative columnists and
conservative articles that are generally written in English.

Sadly for the hack democrat political bosses and their lackeys elected by
the "palanca" method ("Palanca" means lever and for generations Latinos have
been encouraged to pull the palanca for the democrat nominees... it has
worked for too long.). However, more and more young Latinos are learning
too much English to be held back and frightened into going the "palanca"
route. Thank goodness.

I am literate in Spanish, read, write and speak. And what both amazes and
pleases me is that so many Latinos under thirty are totally literate in
English. So many can't even read or write Spanish it makes me laugh at all
the political muscle that is invested in "demanding" bi-lingual education.
And then there is the matter of all the signs, ballots, instruction sheets,
etc. that MUST be prepared in Spanish. A huge part of the younger Latino
(the politicos want them to be called Hispanic) citizens can't read or write
any more Spanish than most of you reading these words! It is both sad and
wonderful. I encourage all my young Latino friends to hang on to the
culture of their forefathers. It is both beautiful and classic. But the
desire to progress, move up and outward is energizing them to concentrate
totally on what will help (allow) them to get ahead and to move into a place
in this national society of ours that they both deserve and can EARN. It is
a very stimulating and exciting time for us and them.

How wonderful it is that the "melding" of cultures can happen so profitably
for all of us!

So, when a letter appeared in the Corpus Christi Caller Times (Pravda on the
Bay) written by a very thoughtful Latino citizen, it gave me goose bumps
(almost). It is my intent to share this with all of the folks interested in
preserving liberty and the Constitution of the USA who read this fine
forum's offering. Please excuse the verbosity of my comments, but it is so
exciting it is easy to wax long about it.

The letter was obviously prompted by a controversy involving the
Superintendent of Schools in the CCISD, some of the trustees and the
citizens of the city and district. For so long the politics of the city and
county have been a tug-of-war between the Latino "politicos" and the rest of
the county, city and district. They have had the way with the system
because the Latino (once minority, now majority) population "went along"
with the political bosses in the Latino community. Education (glory be) has
begun to erode the confidence the regular people once had in the bosses.

So, here is one fine man's response to the "goings on" in the community vis
a vis the Latino "leadership's" perfidious actions and intentions. Enjoy.

An angry giant

Once again, I am called to make note of the injustices and flagrant
atrocities pushed forth by so-called Hispanic civil rights organizations;
specifically LULAC and the American G.I. Forum.
I, like many others, am tired of these left-wing politicos claiming they
represent the Hispanic community.
I am tired of them pulling out the race card when things do not go their
way.
And I am tired of seeing their cheap intimidation tactics go uncontested.
Recently, these so-called Hispanic civil rights organizations protested a
program to deport illegal immigrants, because they thought the deportation
of illegal immigrants threatened Hispanics.
Also, instead of joining the overwhelming majority of citizens fed up
with seeing tax dollars spent on dinners and strippers, these organizations
rallied in support of those wasting money, because they're Hispanic.
However, I am not afraid. You see, not too long ago, Mary Helen Salazar,
president of LULAC Council No. 1, along with the Honorable Sen. Carlos
Truan, held a tantrum before the City Council regarding the renaming of
Agnes Street to Cesar Chavez Memorial Parkway. They cried racism, threatened
to unseat council members, and stated if council did not vote their way, it
would awaken a sleeping giant.
They were right. A sleeping giant has arisen from a slumber. A giant that
does not appreciate threatening and misrepresentation.
Perhaps LULAC, the American G.I. .Forum, and other so-called Hispanic
civil rights organizations should lay low and keep quiet before the true
sleeping giant has to do it for them.

About 15 years ago I installed a control system at a road builder's site in San
Angelo. The buyer wanted a display in English and Spanish. Once we installed it,
they learned the Hispanics couldn't read Spanish. And, Tex-Mex is different from
Spanish.

My theory on the Democrats and minorities is based on the results of the 1960
presidential election. Remember Kennedy won due to the dead voting in Chicago
and Texas. The Dems realized that most of the white voters were not voting for
them. They needed a voter base that would vote for the Dems. That's why we have
the welfare system we have today. It was created to get more voters for the
Democrats. The same with the motor voter law.

I once worked with a very liberal co-worker. He was talking about how the
Republicans didn't help the minorities. I responded that my history books stated
that the South for a hundred years, since the Civil War, was controlled by the
Dems. Just who wrote the Jim Crow laws and oppressed the minorities?
