simplest way to add twitter to my website

Hi -

I want to add a twitter button to my website which allows users to
quickly share the URL for a story they're reading. When they click the
twitter button, I'd like them to be redirected to Twitter and have the
URL from the story they're reading appear in their message. The
vocabulary in the Twitter API docs is overwhelming, I'm sure I could
understand it if I knew what "public timeline" meant. Can someone
just give me a push in the right direction as to how I might
accomplish this?
