The 48 hour window is an estimate, not a guarantee.

understood. But I am not sure if my posts are correctly formatted though to get the link posted to my tweets so it may already be ready so the problem lies on my end. should I wait awhile and check back?

Usually you receive a confirmation with the source tag you should be using
when it becomes active. If you haven't received this yet, I suspect that it's
not activated yet.
