Could it be that the first public revelation of Craig Ferguson's
marriage to his longtime gal-pal (as the gossip columns used to call
'em) Megan was really his cold-open on "The Late Late Show" last
night? I guess Paparazzi Nation wasn't doing its job or, as C-Ferg
might say, didn't give a rat's ass. Or the garrulous, engaging
Scotsman is, in fact, more discrete than his TV persona leads us to
believe.

RE: That "Defies Himself" thing - He had sworn up and down that, after
two failed marriages, he'd never take the plunge again.

More like there's not a lot of paparazzi hanging
around Vermont in a snowstorm.

Then, they were just lucky. But still, not a peep anywhere else?

Wait a minute... Craig's straight? I think I just lost a bet.

He's not gay. He's European.

You're calling a Scot a European? If you were brave, you do that to
his face. And get a Glasgow kiss for your troubles.

Craig often refers to himself as a European. It's part of a running
gag to explain weird behavior, as when he claims that he's required to
wear Speedos...because he's European.

Indeed. As the child of a Scottish ex-pat, I would say "English" is by
far the more insulting E-word for a Scot. The English, though, might
not be so happy about being labeled as European, if we want to paint
with such a broad brush.

Two admissions:

1. I don't watch him to enough to have gotten the European
reference... sorry about that.

2. Immediately after posting, I realized I should have written that
the only thing worse for a Scot than being called "European" is being
called "English". Thanks for pointing that out! As far as the
broadness of the brush, let's go with it!
