Commencement Addresses

This time of year, notables tend to proffer words of wit and wisdom to
people in caps and gowns. Thought I'd start the thread off with Aaron
Sorkin's address to Syracuse graduates. Some familiar phrases from his
archives in the speech, and he attempts to quote comedian Steven
Wright.

I can't say I blame him (Sorkin). If you need to put together a crowd
pleasing speech, go with what you know has worked with a crowd. And if
the last speech of this type you gave was 15 years ago I don't see
anything unethical with repeating phrases or themes.

Huh. Well, since I was AT the VPA convocation in 1997 (hint: I was wearing a black robe & funny hat), I guess I don't need to watch his speech from Sunday...
