Hello Jim,

Thanks for replying.

I really cannot use ethernet or USB as there is no place close to the computer to place the printer.

Yes, I entered the password correctly on the printer and the printer has indicated that a the network is working correctly. Also I printed out the network settings. I scanned them with my other printer and attached them to this e-mail. As you can see, everything seems correct except the last entry is Epson Connect and it states "Disable".

My Comcast modem has no WIFI it is just a cable modem. I do not have the Comcast Triple Play package.

When I try to print something I get nothing. The Print and Scan section of system preferences sees the Epson Workforce 545 but there is a yellow dot and the words "In use, Default" status "In use". When I open the printer queue it states "Printing untitled. Looking for printer. Communication error.

I just deleted that job and now it says "Printer Ready" and the yellow dot has been replaced with a green dot and the words Epson Workforce 545 Idle Default. Tried to print again and I get "Looking for printer. Communication error. The printer is not connected."

The computer is a Mac mini running Lion 10.7.5.

I am at a loss. Any ideas?

If at all possible, try to use the Ethernet connection to your router. No password is required and you can turn WiFi off for the printer.

If you can't use Ethernet, you do need to connect to your router using WiFi. Did you enter your router's WiFi password on the Epson when setting it up? If not, you did not get it setup correctly. You should be able to print a network settings report and see the IP address the printer was assigned.

On a computer, type in the address and you should see the printer's web page. If this is not happening, you don't have something setup correctly.

I am pretty sure you can't have a USB connection while trying to use a network connection (Ethernet or WiFi).

Are there more than one instances of this printer in the System Preference / Print & Scan? You might remove everything and add it back again. Also, make sure you are up to date with your Apple software.

Do you have a wireless router from Comcast? Do you have Comcast's package with phone, TV, & Internet? Does your Comcast device have 4 yellow Ethernet connections? Does it have a WiFi light?

If so, you need to use only 1 router - only the one from Comcast and remove your Netgear.
