Hi everyone,

Just a quick message to announce that TurboGears-1.0 is now in the
WebFaction one-click installer.

As a bonus, here is a quick tip for anyone who needs to install
TurboGears multiple times and doesn't want to have to download the eggs
from a zillion sites every time (with high chances that one of these
sites will be down):
The trick is to use the "un-networked machines" feature of
easy_install:
http://peak.telecommunity.com/DevCenter/EasyInstall#installing-on-un-networked-machines

The "-zmaxd somedir" flag allows you to tell easy_install to download
everything it needs once and forall and to put everything in somedir/
Once you have all the files you can easy_install TG as many times as
you want, on as many servers as you want without having to download
anything from anywhere: just use the "-H None -f somedir" flags to tell
easy_install to use the files from somedir/

Hopefully this can help anyone who's ever been frustrated by
easy_install stopping halfway through the installation because some
site was down :)

Cool! Nice tip!

I haven't tested this, but if it works - and no reason not to trust your word
for it - this should definitely go into the install instructions on the wiki!

yea that is why we keep a copy of all the eggs on the TG site so if
some site goes down you get none :)
