100,000 eggs

Sometime within the last few days, TurboGears.org served up its
100,000th egg. (As of 1/22, the total was over 105,000.) TurboGears
eggs have been downloaded more than 20,000 times.

Congratulations Kevin and everyone involved.

Rarely have I seen such a young project so popular. People are
practically beating down the doors for this thing, impatiently waiting
for it to even hit a pre-alpha stage.

In the case of most open source projects, most folks look at the
version number as the first evaluation criterion and generally leave it
be until it becomes stable. But not so with TG, I'm guessing it's a
combination of presentation and an emphasis on push-button installation
and usability. The quickstart feature alone makes it very inviting.

I have almost completed my first project, (a rather monstrous one at
that) in TG and plan to use it for my next three.

My reasons where a good presentation (web site, documentation) of
diverse projects I already used and liked (cherrypy, kid...).
I was really impressed by the "glue" around these.

I must say that I really appreciate the professionnal touch I can feel
even in the svn version I currently use.

I use this thread to say a big "thank you" to Kevin for his wonderfull
work: You really created something I had been waiting for a long time.
