Is there a better way of getting a users avatar, other then calling the avatar API for each user?
I'd like to display the user's avatar when i fetch the dashboard post, but it would seem wasteful to call the avatar API up to 20 times.

The only place i see an avatar_url returned is from the avatar API.

Is it returned with any other API's and its just not documented?

You can build the avatar url using the blog name. Take a look at the Avatar section of the documentation;

You can get a blog's avatar in 9 different sizes. The default size is 64x64.
