Customize HTML through the API

I'm the developer of an app that allows templates to be edited as files for the ExpressionEngine CMS. (See  http://hellomountee.com/ for more info.)

I would love to build something similar for Tumblr, but as far as I can tell, there's no way to update the the custom HTML through the API.

We currently do not offer an API which lets you alter the your theme or use custom HTML.

Thanks for the quick response. I can probably figure it out by scraping the HTML, though obviously a supported API would be ideal.

Hi Padraig! You probably have an idea already how to accomplish this kind of scraping but the way it's handled by many blog editors for many different sites is by publishing a post with highly identifiable placeholder contents e.g. "**PADRAIG-KENNEDY-TITLE**" for the title, then quickly downloading the published HTML page before deleting the post to avoid embarrassment to the user.

An alternative would be to mimic through your URL connections to the site a complete login, so you can publish as a draft and read the "published" HTML without ever having to make it public.
