Hallo,

ich habe auf den Rechnern athalle16, athalle19 und athalle20 OpenSolaris
2008.05 installiert.
Dies ist ein Einblick wie der Stand der Dinge auf dem Weg zu Solaris 11
ist.

Highlights dieser Installation sind insbesondere dass das System
komplett von ZFS bootet, aktuelle Versionen verbreiteter UNIX Software,
OpenOffice und ein neues Gnome - nicht zuletzt mit einem angenehmen Theme.

Als Besonderheit bietet OpenSolaris ein Packageverwaltungssystem. Mit
'pkg search -r <paketbestandteil>' oder mit dem Tool packagemanager kann
man nach verfuegbarer Software suchen. Falls ihre einen berechtigten
Wunsch habt, koennen wir solche Software dann einfach nachruesten.

Zusammengefasst, es ist einfach neuer und besitzt einige der
Annehmlichkeiten, die mit Ubuntu schon laenger verbreitet werden.

Probiert es einfach mal aus.

P.S. VirtualBox ist auch installiert.

Mittlerweile sind jetzt die Maschinen athalle12-20 und die athalle5 mit
OpenSolaris versehen.

Insbesondere ist noch hervorzuheben, dass auch der Scannerrechner
(athalle5) von OpenSuSE 9.2 nach OpenSolaris konvertiert ist. Jetzt
funktioniert das Scannen zuverlaessiger und ein Plugin fuer Gimp ist
auch installiert. (File -> Acquire -> xsane...)
xsane standalone befindet sich im selben Menue wie GIMP (Applications ->
Graphics)
