First, thanks to KG and other contributors for providing tufte-latex, it really produces some amazing output.

So I'm trying to change the default font size in a tufte-handout document (I need to accommodate older readers who can't deal with 10pt defaults), where I'm using xelatex and custom fonts.  The custom fonts work, but I'm having no luck changing their sizes.  I tried following the suggestion from an old post here: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!msg/tufte-latex/ubOz6Gnuuww/3EDny9YFqq4J

....copying in the corresponding code from size12.clo, both into my tufte-common.def and also as a local redefinition in the file, but nothing changes.  Any suggestions please?

Hello, Kal.

It seemed to work okay for me. I've attached an example file.

Please note that the values used in the example file are likely not
optimal and that I've probably missed a slew of required modifications
(I just copied over the settings from size12.clo). For instance, the
size of the text on the title page hasn't been modified.

Please let me know if this file doesn't compile for you or if you
encounter other problems.

Hi Kevin,

Thank you for the quick reply and solution - it works!  I'll tinker further with the spacing and such, but the improvement in legibility (for this font and audience) will be immediately useful.  Thanks,

K
