A good example of an OSS BI suite offering is JasperSoft, which consists of JasperReports, popular Java reporting capabilities that provide functionality similar to Business Objects’ Crystal Reports; JasperStudio, a graphical report designer for JasperReports; JasperServer, which can be used standalone or embedded in other software suppliers applications; JasperAnalysis, an Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) server; and JasperETL data integration (DI) tools. Any Java Database Connectivity (JDBC)-2.0-compliant database can be used as a data source. Jaspersoft interfaces to BPM middleware via a set of public integration interfaces implemented as web services and Java APIs. These connectors also allow JasperSoft functionality to be embedded into enterprise applications to provide integrated production reporting, interactive reporting, data analysis, and data integration capabilities.
In terms of community, Jaspersoft maintains its own forge and also works closely with Talend and Mondrian.
