Subject: Tucson: Getting serious actors for your casting calls

Dear TTA List Members,

I think Wayne makes a good point below.  Tucson's performing arts scene has
blossomed over the past few years.  To see it continue to grow, we need to
foster an environment of professionalism and respect.  We'll all benefit.

Wayne addresses his comments to student filmmakers.  However, I think the
same advise should apply to all stage and screen producers in Tucson.

The TTA List is not a discussion board.  I have a feeling that this posting
will elicit many responses.  Therefore, I've created an open discussion
board on the TTA List webpages:
http://tucsonstage.com/TTA_LIST/Discussion_Board/discussion_board.html

Feel free to post your comments there.

Break-legs,

Bill

We understand you are on a tight budget and are probably funding your entire
project out of your own pocket.

But, as actors, we wonder why you and your team cannot afford some sort of
stipend for your "hired" talent...not hundreds of dollars a day.  How about
$5 or $10 - which probably works out to less than $1.00 per hour after all
is said and done. But, a "wage" suggests that you take your talent
seriously/professionally AND vice versa. Symbolically, to a lot of us $5.00
means more than soft drinks, a slice of pizza or a DVD. It means you want to
act professionally as a director/producer and that you want us to act
professionally. Remember, this is a lot more than just a "class project".

Well, it's just a thought for you to consider when you film your next
production.
