To the extent that my NSA source at the time (now deceased) was
well informed, POTUS' Blackberry was a matter of considerable heat
in the early spring of 2009. I do not know how that Blackberry
works or, should I say, works differently, but my source said that
POTUS has that Blackberry simply because he (POTUS) ordered the NSA
to provide it. I was told that arguments against were made face
to face but to no avail. I was told that the person who made the
face to face argument was afterwards not welcome in the White House.
I was told that Obama's is the only one of its kind, and that its
only-ness is also by order. I was told that Hillary Clinton had
wanted one and was refused, on POTUS' orders that his was to remain
the only one. As my then source is now in the tomb, I have no way
to ask if my hearsay is still true, if ever it was.
